Hi and happy new year to all.

I am hoping someone can advice me on buying a Honda Stepwgn, Its a fresh import from http://www.japancarimport.co.uk and looks very nice, the company seem to be on top of it all and everything as far as I can tell is above board, My concerns are how easy is it to get parts for this car, I have spoken to my garage that I have used for over 4 years to service and repair my Land rover and they instantly said say away never get an import, My dad who uses a different garage asked the same question and there reaction was not as blunt and said they would be happy to repair and service the car but parts can be a nightmare to get. I voiced my concern to the importer and they said its a lie and that parts for these are very easy to get, they have even given me the number of the Honda dealer they use for all the services etc so I plan on calling them tomorrow to ask some questions.

I would very much like to no other peoples opinions on this, is it a myth or is this car really going to be hard for parts. I no insurance will perhaps be a little more and I would need to under seal the car but is there anything else I should consider, this is all very new to me to any pointers would be very much appreciated.

Many thanks and looking forward to some help .

go to a Honda dealer with the chassis no., you'll need one for them to access the parts system, and ask what parts they can get.
i run a'90 Beat, local dealer has been great for parts and most have turned up earlier than quoted ie water pump and associated bits was 9 weeks, turned up in 5....OK that looks along time but for a 26yr old car never imported to Europe never mind UK?
service parts prices can be cheaper than on eBay, never assume eBay is cheaper
parts not in UK stock usually coming in from Rotterdam are usually next day or 2, Japan depends on how fast the ship is

a good parts dept can cross reference with UK models, some may be car specific
as the Beat is a w/e car time scale is not so critical, can you afford a little more downtime if needed?
