For the past few weeks, about 30-50% of the time I turn on the engine (Not just the electrics), a warning appears on my instrument cluster saying "Check System". it stays on for about 1 seconds before disappearing. It offers no no more information.

I have connected up a Wi-Fi OBDII device and no codes are recorded.

I have seen that there is a version on this error online that has the ABS symbol above it. However mine simply has an exclamation mark (!).

Any idea what this is and should I worry?

Sorry about that.

It's a 2008 UK Honda Civic (Mk8).

Discovered that the symbol alongside the "Check System" message is the braking alert symbol. In the book it says that when this symbol comes alongside "Check system" it means there is an issue with the braking system but doesn't provide information beyond this. Can anybody help?
