It's weird that the Premiers are so sought after when they aren't much different at all.

Mine was MOT'd last week (after having been off the road for a year), photos next time its sunny then its off to be sold grumpy Had the little bugger since she was 1 year old and i will certainly miss the car, my missus wont drive it though so it makes sense to get rid.

  • company car forces sale!

Your right, Top of the range, run out edition but no real world difference apart from privacy glass and interior. I reckon they'll be worth more in the future in the UK than the import versions will, from a collectors point of view anyway looking at mint, low mile models.

I had an August 2006 Cosmic grey premier which unfortunately I crashed this year, An import one has taken it's place.

Racing & Breakers are swallowing them up too, Have been watching EP3 values and they are starting to climb, Think they bottomed out around 2-2.5k for <100k miles in reasonable shape, now your looking at around 3.5-4k for something worth viewing with <100k.

Unless its something special, (late prem edition, JDM import or seriously low milage) then I expect you wouldnt make much if anything on holding onto one, but I also think you wouldn't lose much on it either which cant be a bad thing.

There's plenty of prefacelift high milers under 2K it seems, I think you'd pay about 3-4k for a decent facelift, and 4k + for a nice prem seems to be the brackets for them.

I didnt quite see the extra value in a prem (actual car improvements, not cost) over a normal edition, but after buying premier edition seats theyre night and day better than the normal type r seats.

When I was looking I wasn't too fussed on whether I had a prem or not because of the minimal difference, I just wanted a facelift Cosmic Grey and that's what I got! Found it to be a fair chunk cheaper than the premier editions.

What I'd really want is a JDM version though, just for the LSD alone.

I'm not expecting to make money on it at all, but if it stays at the same value by the time I chop it in for a DC5 that would be perfect.

My Cosmic Ep3 Premier has just been treated to a Quaife LSD. I wish i had done this mod many moons ago. It is worth every penny.

I had a new clutch and gearbox rebuild at the same time. Ive now spent 10 grand on a car that cost me 3450 to purchase 2 years ago!

I think they have gone up a little already. When I was thinking about getting one in early 2016, there were lots of EBAY cars that made less than £2,000. Don't seem to be so many now. The earliest cars are 17 years old now, so surely they're at the very bottom of their deprecation curve. The GTI-6 was available for about £1000 4 0r 5 years ago. Not now. I guess the Civic will follow. Give It another 10 years and definitely the EP3s will be worth a lot more. Of the early 2000s hot hatches, I see them becoming very collectible. Look at prices of CRXs these days. Remember when they were a grand....

I’ve just got a £5000 agreed value on mine from Adrian Flux. Could have got an independent valuation for more but thought it was a good shout.

I think the FN2 will go down as the type R that just wasn't quite up to the badge, personally.
Seems a popular opinion. Granted I haven't driven one, but in the looks department I think they're maybe the nicest Civic.

I've been long considering getting an EP3, but I must say I'm starting to be tempted by a Championship White Edition FN2 - fantastic looking motor IMHO. And I've read the LSD makes it much nicer to drive.

Too many EP3s and FN2s for them to fetch much money / appreciate much.

Agree the EP3 limited editions stand a better chance (esp. with the recaros), but I'd venture a lot of the value will depend on condition / rust / history / mileage (in that order, probably) as they get older.

A lot of DC2s, to me, are over-valued now - they got cheap, were picked up by people that didn't really care to / couldn't afford to fix them up properly (rust, bushes, etc.) and so they've either had cheap resprays (hiding possibly serious, structural rust) or cheap polybushes which will lose some of the famed handling. Or they've fitted cheap coilovers, which is throwing the baby out with the bathwater as that car's USP is the handling. Or worse, nothing at all and are now really tired...

I'd love another DC2, but would only pay +/- £10k for a cherished one running replaced OE dampers and bushes and without any silly engine mods. Which in the current market is like looking for a unicorn at Crufts.

DC5s are starting to head the same way but have the benefit of never being so cheap, so still easier to find a good one. Although to me they lose some of the analogue feel and 'flow' of the DC2. Plus they'll always have the FD2 hanging over them...

I would also say that generally DC5s are better looked after...they're too expensive a car to fall into careless hands, most are babied almost to a ridiculous degree for what they are.
