I am looking to pick up a new track day/ road trip car on a budget and I keep seeing these cheap type S cars. They look like they fit the bill on paper. Something that is good on long trips with plenty of room and can do the occasional track day. I probably do 10 track days a year in the UK and another 3 or 4 at the ring and spa. I had an e36 to do this with but have sold it recently.
With a budget of about £1500 for car and some upgrades can anyone see why I shouldn't get one of these? I know a type R is only a little more but the family wouldn't be happy on the long trips and that is a huge factor in my choice.

I presume when you family not happy about a type r it means you are looking for a 5 door??

All the suspension/steering / brake upgrades from a type R will fit a S so plenty of scope to improve them.

Or maybe the older 98-00 civic vti-s with the b18c4 engine and lsd is kind of like having a 4 door integra.

Or maybe consider the Toyota corrola t sport, lots of 5 doors and similar concept to a Honda vtec

I don't see an old Civic type-s as much of a family car or a track car. It fills neither brief.

rolleyes Perhaps you should read the thread title, then try reading the original post. The OP asked for opinions and reasons why he shouldn't buy one, he never asked.for alternative suggestions.
