I had to contact Honda UK. I have now been told i'm next on the allocattion list. I placed a Deposit of £1K last August 2022. My dealer has not been the greatest. Honda UK are more useful. Anybody still waiting for the FL5?
Yeah, in no rush but maybe time to seriously consider alternatives.MITZ7 said:

I'm waiting for mine, was told at the end of Jan that the next one would be mine, but still no furthur news. Previously I bought a GRY using Toyota's buy online, you can't beat that for transparency as everything would be electronically logged.

Interestingly the dealer tells me they are expecting to deliver one a quarter!
Cheers for the comments regarding my Sonic Grey one I collect It soon.
How long do think Honda will produce the Type R for I wonder? 600+ cars a year is still relatively small numbers so should help residuals either way. Overs are another subject. I'm pleased If It retains close to the amount I've paid like my GR Yaris has.

I’m interested to hear how they compare. I love the look of the Yaris but never had the chance to drive one, just diced with a few on track. The new Type R is part of my plan to revamp our 2 car household, and hope keep a fun analog ICE car before we’re all totally electrified.
We’ll swap the wife’s X1 for an EV SUV thing, and my C63 estate will be replaced by the Type R. The EV will be used as the family car, and the Type R as the weekend toy + family back up. Still need to get this plan past the mrs…
The price shook me but I’m still in the game. Unfortunately I’m 14th in the queue but my dealer thinks most will drop out and I stand a chance of March allocation. Who knows.
Half tempted to ring around, but every time I start the C63 it warms the cockles of my heart. I’m keen but not desperate.
Having had both FK8 and C63S estate recently - the start up noise is just about all the Merc does better. And the fact its costs about half as much to run just adds to the satisfaction.
Course the FL5 is way more money so that loses some of the smug factor.

As my stepson said when he seen it, it's red, very red. It has presence, it catches peoples eyes that's for sure, this may not necessarily be a good thing as I've had some unwanted attention before with some cars I've had so time will tell on that one. The GRY flew under the radar and only attracted the attention of people who knew what it was, which is fine by me.
The seats are amazing, best sports seats I've ever sat in.
The gear change is the best gear change feel and throw of any fwd car I've driven. Comparable, but not better than my mx5.
Steering wheel is awesome, love the feel of it.
Refinement in comfort mode is very good, feels like a limo compared to the GRY. The other settings I'm still playing about with so will comment when I can.
Visibility is pretty good though I feel a I'm sitting a little too low I may have to play about a bit more with my seating position.
It's very obviously a fwd driving experience with a feel of being pulled through a corner not pushed as in the GRY. A lot of squirm from the front as well though the temperature was pretty low yesterday so that wouldn't have helped. It seems pretty easy to get the rear moving a little as well in a kind of old school hot hatch way, but again it was cold up here yesterday so that may have helped.
It's early days to comment on the power, it's quick, very quick though I haven't yet explored the full rev range or even tried the R mode yet.
Over all I'm very impressed, it feels and looks very special.
Downsides, well the only niggle so far is the central locking, it just sounds cheap, like an Astra from the 90s. Press the unlock button and it rattles as it un!ocks where it would be nice to thunk, like a Volkswagen.
As you may have guessed if that's all the irritates me so far then there's not alot wrong with it.

Car should arrive at dealers next week, unfortunately I won’t be able to collect until end of month, mainly due to getting car PPF’d, long time waiting I put my deposit down over a year ago. It’s a pity as had planned to go to Spa on trackday then Ring so had to cancel that.
I’ve been told mines coming on or around the 23rd. I can’t wait!
I’m still on the fence about PPF as it will need replacing every few years to avoid it creating a possible strong bond to the clear coat. Needs a bit of skill and technique to remove safely.

Does it really ever need replacing unless damaged ?

There’s not much talk about getting it off but most recommend not leaving it on for too long -3 to 5 years although guaranteed for 10 in many cases. Does it really ever need replacing unless damaged ?
It can go to look tatty and shredded as not all chips will chips self heal. It will also lose its hydrophobic surface qualities. Edges can get stained and show up especially on lighter cars.
Takes careful removal with heat gun and pulling towards you not away as you lift it. This is to get as much of the adhesive to come off at the same time as leaving it all over paintwork can lead to need for chemical removal or polish. With long term leaving it can take off topcoat/paint.
Sorry if any of this is wrong, it’s just what I’ve read. It’s hard to find objective views on the use PPF since most of the articles or YouTube clips are either by or sponsored by detailers.
It’s an expensive to put on and then factor in removal and replace the stuff every few years. It’s basically going to cost a few hundred a year in maintenance and financing replacement .

When I got my first FK8 in 2017 I went for PPF up to B pillar. No one had a template for the car, no one spent that sort of money on a Honda then. (Topaz did it for me , not very well to be honest)
Guess now they're £50k the buyer profile is quite different.
Never bothered with the Polished Metal facelift car I have now and so far little damage.

Buzzing for you all that are collecting this month
Collecting mine this morning Its raining hard / windy going to get caked underneath prior to having It protected!
Very excited nonetheless.
Given the weather and the plan to get it protected I'd have delayed collection. My OCD would be off the scale! Fab car.....enjoy.Collecting mine this morning Its raining hard / windy going to get caked underneath prior to having It protected!
