Just think of the numbers they'd sell if they sold that over here. Yet again the Japs keep the best models for themselves, just like they do over at Subaru, Mitsubishi etc.

I'd loved to have bought an Impreza S204. However ..........

How can you have 17" brake disks with 18" wheels? Surely not possible?

Remove the ridiculously vast rear spoiler, get it in silver stick some IMA badges on and spend the rest of your days blowing people into the weeds while giggling heartily...

Does look a bit suspect, I agree. That's def what it says officially however. I'll try and check it out and get back to you...

17" discs? Inside 18" rims? That's not going to fit.

It's refreshing to see the Japs haven't sold out at least!

If they did they would have to commit sopuku so they can die with honour!

Just need a model report done for it then bring them over

Come on guys, you really think this looks better than the UK one!! I need my eyes testing as I think the jap one looks like a cheap tart up exercise....similar to the last MG zr/tf/thingy me jiggies, i.e. just slap a big set of rims on and bolt a tea tray to the boot. I think the UK type R's design is far more cohesive, just compare the two interiors!

According to the Japanese press info the front disks are 320mm with aluminium Brembo calipers.

There appears to be more effort in weight saving too (lightened rear screen for example), though the weight is still 1250kg (without aircon, 1270 with it). For comparison, the EU CTR GT tested by Autocar weighed in at more than 1330kg.

Still better off in this segment buying an old DC2 then... or even a DC5. It's not like these cars are company fleet material or anything, they are likely to be for enthusiasts and/or track work, and so in theory they will go for the best ones not just the newest as if it's the best...??

Of course if you want a Type R with a kerb weight of 1250kg, 280bhp and two LSDs, then you need to go to a proper Japanese car maker like Subaru.

Hmmn, bet Matt Neal and the TD BTCC boys were wishing this had been around for this season instead of using a torsion beam motor for this year, as this would work for S2000 regs, better aero too. think we might be seing ti next year though

oh some nice pics/wallpaper on the Jap site too www.honda.co.jp/CIVICTYPE-R/photogallery/

Nice video on this site, shows Button driving (annoying music means you can't hear the engine though). Car looks quite large on the track- very reminisent of the Accord TR in fact.

Strange when you think that manufacturers can knock out hyper fast, super expensive cars (see todays CL65 story as a good example) yet a 4 door Honda can be one of the most desirable cars ever- and one that appeals to all types of car enthusiast.
