Hi all,

I know my way around after living here for six years, and know it is possible to import cars and bikes that meet Euro standards

However.....

I really (really, really, etc) want one of the CCM Spitfire Scramblers http://www.ccm-motorcycles.com/bikes/spitfire-scra...

But.....

They are only UK compliant. Spoke to them and I can get a build slot, have it delivered in the UK, shipped to CH, etc

So.....

Has anyone imported something in a similar vein to this - like a caterham or other low volume car / bike?

And......

Is it worth the hassle

Don't know how much the motorbike costs, but if you are willing to pay another 6000 CHF on top of it for all the conformance tests then go ahead. I never imported a motorbike but I imported an Aston, a Lotus and a TVR. In general, the newer the vehicle the worse (or costly) it will be, except if you have CoC (Certificate of Conformity) from the manufacturer.
In your case I would get the Manufacturers certificates/measurements or what ever they have. The expensive issues are always noise and exhaust/engine emissions. Based on the documents check if you have a chance to fulfill Swiss/EC standards. If not, you will know what additional investments you are facing. The bike looks quite bare-bone and you might need a Cat, and other things to pass.
If that is all Ok, you will need to make noise and emission measurements at DTC or FAKT. If you pass in a single test calculate about 600 CHF for noise and 4000 CHF for emission (this is for cars, but I don't think there will be much difference for a bike).

Thanks Crypto, i really appreciate it.

Looks like the cost will just not be worth it, the value of the bike is around 12K CHF all in
