Andy I now know who owns the M3 with familiar plate that seems to be there every single time I go to the Ring, do you live there? lol

I go about 4 or 5 times a year and this year i have stored the car there.I do love the time over there just meeting new people and having a laugh but when the weather is bad it does not appeal as a place to live lol

Im going for the first time 24th, 25th and 26th of July.

For those that have been before, do you book laps in advance? or are you alright just turning up?

Assuming you mean for TF (tourist driving) then as long as the circuit is actually open then just turn up and buy your lap tickets on the day.

If you haven't already, a read of the ring insurance thread (stickied on this forum) would be time well spent. And a few passenger laps with someone who knows their way round is also a good investment.

Jealous! Yeah it's great, it's just Petrolhead heaven. It was a bit rainy Easter weekend just gone it was still just as enjoyable on the dry days but on the rainy dulls it did make the place a bit dull as we didn't really know what to do.

Yes there is only so many visits to nurodisney that i can stand as its like walking around a ghost town. And sitting in a row of cars with windows slightly open trying to have a conversation while not getting wet and cold is not fun for long !!

Hi folks, I'll be there the weekend of the 11th/12th/13th for my stag weekend, and before anyone groans it will be very sensible and no arsing about when the track is concerned.

We have bought cars for less than £500 and I will be there to do my lap in my lovely £385 Alfa 156 Twin Spark. No idea what the others have bought as its a secret until we meet at Clackett Lane services.

Staying at hotel an der nordschleife and booked into the Pistenklause on the Sat night for steak. So looking forward to it!

Will look for your cars, if anyone sees a light blue Alfa 156 broken down somewhere between Dunkirk and the Ring say hi and/or lend assistance!

Ha,thanks! I'm hoping it will all be fine and nothing will happen, after all, how hard can it be? wink

So, for those experienced ringers, on the Saturday, would you expect it to be busy? Best time to go? Is it worth going early or another sweet spot of a time?

At the moment the plan is to lap and do some spectating on the Saturday. We'll probably arrive way too late to do any laps on the Friday and Saturday we might all be hung over. Early Sunday laps worth it?

Early Sunday or Monday are the best times to get some clear runs in.

I was afraid you would say that early Sunday morning. smile

I don't generally drink, but was going to make an exception for German beer, might have to think about that as the idea of an early morning run appeals.

Andy, please make sure that you all check your motors for fluid leaks and the like before you go on to the ring, otherwise things could go tits up for you very quickly.

TIA

+1 The idea is fun but a fluid leak could cost you a fortune if someone has an accident because of it.

He might struggle, as its shut Monday for tf

Brits taking shonky old few hundred quid heaps out fills me with dread, not least as they are worth so little I'll never get a call to recover those cheap old sheds! wink

Keep out the way on the right & please keep an eye on fuild leaks, if you do jizz oil/coolant/powersteering fluid/gearbox oil over the track, pull over ASAP & get off the line even sooner & flag the issue back as far as you can, this stuff kills bikers.

If you or your pals are in a fix as one of the $hitboxes has expired, gimmie a call, prob not worth bringing the tat to blighty as will cost more to recover than its worth, but can get it scrapped out there as long as you have V5.

Just dont crash, the cars you are in may be a worth pence heap, the armco & of track recovery & oil clean up bills etc will still cost the same as it if were a 100k GT3.

Oh ref quietest time, usually last the very knockings just before it shuts on a sunday eve has the emptiest laps.

I'll be in this.

I didn't check the dates but when I do TF now it is normally on a Monday evening as the track is nearly always clear.

Thanks for the tips.

I can't speak for the others, as they are grown adults and can sort themselves out, but my Alfa is in great condition and not leaky in the slightest. Obviously, saying that has doomed me, but you get the idea.

Our motivations for doing this weren't 'lets buy a cheap car because we don't care about them', it was more, lets have some fun buying the cars and seeing what we can get.

As the challenge is to make as much profit on the sale of the car as possible this was never about buying something cheap to run into the ground. Not my thing at all.

Lucky chaps! Although I cannot complain too much, we were there two weeks ago.

We stayed at the Dorint hotel, with a room that had a small terrace/balcony overlooking the track. Loved the wake up call. Basically cars blasting around the right-hander then down the front straight.

Just wanted to say checkout the TF sessions on the Nurburgring GP circuit. Its 40 euros for 20 minutes. We did a session at 18:00 pm Friday evening and we were the only ones on the track!
