Was there yesterday for my first experience of silverstone in my M400, busy track and quite a few red flags but when I got some space towards the end of the day I done a best of 2:25 and using my best sectors on the Vbox data I could have done a 2:20.

That pretty good for your first time on the GP track! What did you think of the circuit? I have done a few upgrades to the MG so maybe I would have been right on your tail. Have you a time for Castle Combe?
Cheers

One of the GTR's did 2.19secs.

Running approx 650bhp and uprated suspension and brakes.

Unfortunately not me - I have a best of 2.31secs!

Have just fitted a new rear wing to the MGB with self adjusting DRS (home made). Tested it out at the recent Combe Spring Action day and was very happy with a time of 1m 15.5secs.
Here is the vid timed from the red marker boards.

That is very quick I think it may be faster than the quickest saloon quali time from the last race at combe.

The rear wing and front splitter have made a considerable difference to stability at speed. For a few years i have been struggling to get below 1m 18s.I think there is slightly more to come when it is set up properly.
Here is the whole session that the clip was taken from.

When I did a bit of checking a few weeks back I found a 5th gear clip of Plato in a Noble doing something like a 2.20 which was said to be a production car record and a guy I know with an Atom 300 doing a 2.30 which seemed pretty sharp

I'm sure others will be able to offer better guidance - as always track conditions, car, tyres and driver ability offer a lot of variables but I sense "respectable" (your phrase) is 2.45 and below with 2.30 sharp and sub 2.30 very sharp indeed
What would you think would be 'respectable' and 'sharp' for a 458 Italia on normal tyres?

That looks like a lot of fun. What tyres were you on?
The GP track is my favourite, I really need to get there more often.
Here is a clip of my last visit in September.

That's Richard Bennett's 993 RSR you were having fun with. Suspect your power-to-weight ratio is a bit higher!

Yes, that's the one, what a gorgeous car. I had just changed from a four barrel carb to throttle bodies with map able fuel and ignition. Had a few issues with a backfire at high rpm, you can hear it pop a few times in the clip. The problem turned out to be too small a gap for the crank sensor. Cant wait to get back to Silverstone again.
Cheers

shocking driving standards, was it a free for all. Unless its Trax or an action day I thought it was overtaking by consent and not in corners and no diving down the inside under braking.
Looks like fun though. I quite like free for all days.

Well driven (racing driver line into brooklands) and a fast lap too, but maybe bit too aggressive for a track day... I am not the role model on that one to say much!

That is getting around pretty sharpish, do you know what sort of power it is putting out ?
