Thats a fair distance to have heard the bang, shows how big the impact was. My heart sank when I saw the car and then sank again today when Tom told me how much damage there is that can't be seen.

Early indications are from the Porsche driver are that his insurance company are going to pay so that's a relief.

It's a lovely car - what is the spec? Glad to hear that it should be being covered by Mr Porsche's insurance. I worked out from the noise where it would have happened and knew another car would have to be involved. It's not the sort of place one goes off on one's own. As I say to all my friends; if you go there enough, it's not a case of if, it's a case of when.

Does that mean if you have an off early in your Touristfahrt 'career' it is in the bank and 'safe' - ? smokin

So any more to the M3 vs Porsche story? I take it he cut in front of you.

Sorry to hear the news by the way but at least you will get a full payout that will not impact massively on your insurance and you are both well. I always wonder how people get back after something like that but I suppose as there were plenty of British there someone offered to help and transport you back to Blighty.

The car is left at Tom's between March and November so I get quite a bit of use out of it. I have said the same thing to my wife that eventually I would have an accident and here it is.

Spec on the car is roughly

E92 M3 DCT
Nitron 3way Race Suspension - Custom valved and sprung for Schirmer's
AP Racing brakes front and rear with PF disc's and endless pads
Akrapovic exhaust system
BBS E88 wheels + Pilot Sport Cups
Drexler DIff
Diff Cooler
BMW Motorsport Shortened final drive
GT4 front Splitter
GTS rear wing
Recaro Profi seats
Scroth Harnesses
Roll Cage
Engine is standard except for speed limiter removal.

What an awesome few days that was! probably my favourite 2 trackdays ever. I took 3 cars out and they all performed faultlessly with no breakages!

Thanks to Darren and the other DN staff.

SUPERB from start to finish.

Agree with the above sentiment. Spa in particular was excellent. Highlight was following a Litchfield prep'd GTR through Pouhon with flames belching from all four pipes cue passenger comment "it looks like a ****** dragon" - and he should know, he's been to Wales.
Two questions though, 1. what in the sam hill is wrong with the Italians - do they know left / right, over / undertake etc? I was tempted to phone an Italian tax inspector to come collect their lorry of v'expensive motors (including one very sorry looking GT3 RS).
2. Does anyone have a link for the various photo companies up and running at N'Ring and Spa? (frozenspeed excepting).

Amazing 2 days on track at Spa. Nice to meet so many regular faces and make a few new friends. That's what these trips are all about.

The GT3 performed flawlessly from start to finish. What an epic epic car. I'm smitten. Can believe I held off getting one for so long.

Were you driving a blue Clio at the Ring? I thought I saw you but wasn't quite sure. It was fun to see it monstering a few "quicker" cars!

Anyhow, just wanted to say that you are a top bloke mate, the help you gave me sorting my issues out was and is very, very much appreciated, but we wont go into that on here eh....thanks buddy and I'm so relieved to hear that you both are OK, and we both know it will be as good if not better when repaired by the master....one word....starts in K and ends in ics ...see ya again soon

A great few days.

Monday's DN was superb and well organised as usual (although shame about some of the Italian contingent again). I recognised a few familiar cars but was too busy lapping! Spa on Wednesday was just as good and I'm looking forward to the next two DNs in 2013 plus another couple of Spa trips.

Yep, had my Clio out there and my White ExigeS and the white Westy.

I drove the Clio all morning and then the Westy all afternoon. My mates who came out with me were driving the Lotus all day. With me pushing the Clio hard and them taking it alot easier in my Lotus they are a REALLY good match and great fun pair.

Love the little Clio. Awesome little thing. I didnt do a single lap in the Lotus at the Ring! I did use it to learn Spa in the morning though as it was my first time there and it was bloody slippy!

Drove Westy all afternoon again. That was ALOT of fun. Hell of a track... and car behaved itself and didnt break anything for once, time for more booost soon then!

Amazing trip. Can't wait for next DN event.

It was an epic few days, was my first time driving at the ring. Thoroughly enjoyed it and did my best to keep out of the way! At one point I said to my passenger "I'm doing a ton with the indicator on!" Met plenty of good people, also went over to Spa to spectate for the day and sitting up at Eau Rouge with a cigar and a beer was a memorable way to spend an afternoon.

Many thanks to Darren and co for making it such a great event.

What was the problem with the Italians? I didnt see any bad driving personally?

Only problem I saw was a blue E36 M3 who seemed to have fetish for bonnet pins and was using 8 for the front bonnet alone!

Chaps in a Rent a ring Golf GTI going into corners under braking without waiting for consent and repeatedly flashing his lights when in the middle of corners. He was 'racing' the Italian Elise with green wheels.

The German chap in the black Schirmer E92 wasn't much better either.

Well, for one example I was patiently waiting for a safe passing opportunity on a Swift through Pflanzgarten and an Italian E36 overtook me down the right on the first right hander after the big jump. Fortunately I saw him coming and was going so slowly behind the Swift that there was not any kind of issue making plenty of room to avoid any potential impact, but I'd call that pretty bloody dangerous in principle, contrary to the principle of a track day and very definitely against the rules. The video would be a great what not to do for briefings. The thing is - in my experience (of all of the DN days so far held) it isn't Italians in general that are the issue, the ones that people complain about almost always seem to be in some variety or other of 3 series BMW... The Italians in Lotus, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, and so on tend to be fine.

[Incidentally - I did mention it to Darren on the day]

Worst overtake I witnessed was by someone who really should know better: Sabine Schmitz!

She overtook me going into Hohe Acht & it was a good job I looked in my mirrors because the natural line there would have taken me directly into her path.

well we had a really good time at the nurburgring on the 7th & 8th october. it was my first time there and the learning curve is very steep but all in all i enjoyed it very much and will defo go back next year. at first it was a case of keeping out of the way while learning the track but by the 8th (monday) we were ok with putting some good laps in with the x bow.
i am glad to see the people who had gone off with accidents were all ok.

see you next year
