I was looking for "paid" space to take over a set of tyres to give me options depending on weather. It looks like I will be studying German Weather forcasts closely.Hopefully I'll see you there, I'm in a white GT3 clubsport............I guess they will be as common as muck over there.

The weather forecast is dry and sunny for the 8th October.
At the moment.

No, I did not miss the point. Poster mention use of Ring Rentals as it was less risk but in fact the risk could be just a high.
Yep. you are 100% missing it.

yes but for the past three Octobers the weather has been unusally kind for the first two weeks. Fingers crossed as I will be fitting my 888s in a weeks time.

Your exposure with a rental is limited, it may be high, but is still limited to whatever the excess on the policy is.

If you drive uninsured your exposure is to some extent unlimited - kill someone and a six or seven figure sum isn't out of the question.

The very worst case scenario from a cynically financial perspective isn't even killing someone. Image if your car blew a seal, sprayed coolant on the track and caused a bike to crash - rendering the rider a quadriplegic. All of the cost of their care and potentially the support of their family for the rest of their lives - that would become your responsibility as a point of liability. If your insurance doesn't cover 3rd party liability without potential for the insurer to pursue you for costs, do not drive your car. Rent something with appropriate cover. The risk is slim, but the exposure is enormous.
