I'm no pro but got my 997.1 Gt3 into the 1min 28s last time there, recorded on logger. Vid of first session of day not quite as quick.

Good video, clearly you are sub 1 min 30 sec!

I would love to drive a 911 GT3 around Goodwood.

I was only 3 seconds slower in my 997 C2S many years ago and I'd also love to have a go in a GT3 - the GT3 looks more frantic to me albeit I wasn't going hell for leather on my lap.

Video is from my first session of the day managed to get into the 1:28s the next time out but HLT stopped recording video but did record data for some reason. Only my second outing at Goodwood with a 2 year gap between them. Really enjoy this track fastest track I've driven in UK. Will be going back in October on a all Porsche day can't wait.

I just drove this track for the first time on monday and found this thread when looking for comparative laptimes. Being a little cautious on the entrance to st mary's due to a previous oil spill I managed (according to the video) something around 1:29, not bad for a z4m it seems (albeit a little modified).
Great track and amazing facility (i'm used to combe lol), there's at least a second left on the table I think, looking forward to going back. Respect to Lord March for capturing the history of the track and ensuring it's future.

I`ve only been down to Goodwood once but really enjoyed it smile. It`s a very quick circuit and one of those you come away from thinking you probably could have gone quicker but just don`t quite have the nerve to do so at the time laugh

I did a 1:26 2-up in my Golf back in 2014. Whilst the car has improved significantly since then, I`m not really sure how much more time there is to be gained to be honest.

Wow that was a fast lap, I am struggling to comprehend how well that Golf handles.

I understand your car is heavily modified but still!

Holy Necrothread but I've fallen in Love with Goodwood this year so seeing what times others have done.

Did a 1:26.9 in my 240bhp Elise/Exige yesterday, think there's more in it though.

Yep, this is a swift lap. Hopefully the track will allow me to match you on Monday (#thiscouldgetmessy)

I've been watching the vids side by side and it looks like you make all your ground before you get to St Mary's. Flat through Fordwater is a massive gain and your car looks so composed. I struggle with V6 through there as I value my life lol smile

More balls at my end and i'll be there with you smile

1.6s ahead by the green arrow.

By the apex at St Mary's you're at 2.1s margin.

By the green arrow at the start of Lavant Straight you're at 2.4s.

At the 200m brake board the grunt of the V6 brings it back to 1.5s.

At the last brake board you're at 1.7s gap.

That's a really cool analysis mate! I do think the V6 is a tricky thing to drive, and probably needs a lot more room to collect it if the rear does break loose.

From memory the rear wings on these cars do almost nothing, even the Cup 430s you can see have barely any profile to them. I reckon a proper wind tunnel developed wing from Reverie would make a world of difference to your high speed stability, not very draggy and their wing generates 90kg at only 100mph being proper chassis mounted I believe. I'm considering getting one as have heard good feedback.

No blistering laps yesterday, only a couple of 1m29s in the last session.

Had a great time chasing down some other quick cars though. https://youtu.be/jywwpFTEWSE

Love your videos Eddie, but it triggers my OCD when the graphic in the top right says ‘left turn’ on right hand bends and vice versa.

laugh

I know, it really annoys me too. Must be a setting for X/Y that I need to flip, but I just can't find it lol

You take an interesting line into Madgwick in your vid, but oddly you're not the first person I've seen do it. Tried the same myself with poor results, but it seems to work for others. You clip that first marker on the right hand side rather than keep to the middle and then use the double apex in one move. It's a corner that's difficult to get right due to its size, but much like Lavant, once you have it there's no denying the beauty of it.

It's no criticism of your driving at all btw, but the recommended line is:

Interesting, I take a similar line but a bit more to the left than the Caterham. Leyton from RMA is more towards the middle.

The reason why I do it is with no ABS I want the hard braking done in as straight a line as possible as haven't really got the space to deal with a lock up or sideways moment due trying to brake while going slightly right so it's a self preservation line rofl . Perhaps similar thoughts in a non-abs Caterham.

Middle lane for me too.

I've seen Arun take the right hand side in his vids, which is what caught my attention.

Back at Goodwood this weekend in my M2 for Players Classic show - looking forward to see what it can VS my old M3

Here I managed four low 1:26 on the trot with best average of 107mph a lap

I'd say 200hp with road tyres so be circa 1:35 ?
