Nurburgring Nordschleife April 11th 2017 - Circuit Days

Looked great out on track and in those pics! Little slip on it but no biggie, had a great day can't wait to get back and I'm hooked on the private days now, wasn't on my limit and still got my personal best, the instructor certainly helped me push that bit more and show me the braking points better which took around 25 seconds off, shame the session ended half an hour before time as my laps were going down each time

25 sec is a good time to shave off, who was your instructor? My personal highlight of instructing on the day was the young scottish lad, Robert. He had an old civic coupe that was putting down (well some of the time) some 460bhp. Met up with him later in tge day and he had upped his boost to 560bhp. Really talented lad that knew how to pedal a car. His first time at the Ring and certain to return.
Sorry for the guys that had issues out on track, but all in all an excellent day.

i hate Pete/Peter is it? I did a 9.15 with him then got 8:49 on my own once I'd been show. The better lines so happy with that My personal highlight of instructing on the day was the young scottish lad, Robert. Day was perfect, except serious moment on that coolant spill. Arrived there about just when E-unit started to lay absorbent on track.
I just want to know from other guys who were there at appr. same time, did you see the flag ? Closest marshal post was before the bridge right hand side. I didnt or then just missed it. would be good to know.
Thanks

Looking forward to Destination Nurburgring on 2 May. Only hope McLaren can fix the 12C in time. If not, I'll have to take the Lotus and make a sacrifice to the weather gods.
You could have taken it to the Circuit Days event, the weather was bloody fantastic wasn`t it !I know not necessarily linked to track days but when I got to the ring today it seemed all roads to it were closed off, tried to get into Adenau but gave up due to complete gridlock.
Anyone able to provide some insight as to what was happening? I had checked in advance and was sure today was a TF day, only had chance for 1 lap as was returning home so a long round trip....

That'd be Karfrietag/Good Friday, one of the busiest, most mental days of the year!
I had completely forgot it was good Friday! We only get it off in Belgium as working for a bank... Oh well, perhaps an evening trip one night this month!I have never seen it so busy, took over 5 hours from Brussels
Looks like you all had a good track day, I think that has to be the way forward as over the past few years it has become more miss than hit with regards to closures/accidents etc (excluding my little oversight today!).
Hope the 12c gets fixed too.

We had Andy, Terry, Frank, Patrick, Walter and Myself. So assume it was Patrick. Nice guy and very quick in a lotus.
Yeah sorry must have been Patrick my memory with names is poor haha! Nice guy though, I'd definately have it again, it's nice to be shown where I can be sharpened up out on track. onemile said:

The 12C is still at Raeder Motorsport at the Nurburgring waiting to be picked up by my insurance company and put on a truck. It will then be dropped off at McLaren Ascot for a full diagnosis. The car had received a pre-track inspection by Ascot so it's very frustrating and I hope no serious damage done. Again, sorry for any impact I caused. In 10 years of driving track days at the Ring this was my first ever incident. Hope it's the last. I'm going back on 2nd May so fingers crossed.

you cant help a strange mechanical failure like this! It is rather odd to pop a coolant hose thoughPH XKR said:

Unfortunately it's not that a rare problem on the 12c. Coolant hose clamps coming loose (which sounds like the issue here) have been an issue, especially on cars sat up for a while. Not a question of track use as it has tended to happen to cars on the road afaik.baronbennyt said:

I can imagine you will be expressing your extreme displeasure if they had it for an inspection knowing you were going on track ! I`ve had incidents on the Ring too and one caused a Red Flag which I was absolutely mortified by so I know exactly where you are coming from. These things happen, nobody went off so no harm done. If you`d taken the car out of storage with no inspection and dropped coolant it would be different but you did all you could.
See you on the 2nd.
