Which part of the circuit out of interest?
Right at the start around tiergarten and round the first right where you'd pull onto the gp track

I guess I'll be the first to post a video. 8min 12sec was the best I managed. I lost around 6sec to traffic, so a bit of a shame I didn't get a chance to properly challenge the Sport Auto time...

Disaster! The McLaren blew a water pipe (I think) which almost sent me spinning off the track at max speed. Luckily I got the car under control and no crash. Now at Raeder Motorsport Garage hoping for no damage to the engine and easy fix. ??
Ah, it was your coolant I slipped on ! eek

Just home from what has been a superb trip and trackday.

Time to get those photos sorted and a report written up. Had several Pistonheaders come up on the trackday and tell me they enjoy reading them and a couple of first time attendees said the report gave them a real flavour of what to expect too. smile

Glad it wasn't just me who slipped on it Nige... sure I'd hit something rather than the car washing out haha. Brilliant trip, hooked on the full days now, October is more than likely getting booked!

Cracking trip guys - I was in the red R53 Mini Challenge Cooper S and managed to get within a whisker (1 second) of my 8 min target so super chuffed.

Great conditions, great bunch of people and decent driving standards.

Nice to see some familiar faces too.

Cheers

@drivermike. Very nice confidant driving there. How well do you know the circuit? As it looked impressive.
Can I ask who tunes the rs please.

Chaps, really sorry if you slid on my coolant. Apologies. Honestly, if you're doing 260 kph in a McLaren at that point and it snaps violently you'd have some sympathy I'd hope. But still, sorry if I disrupted your day.

Car is now at Raeder Motorsport and now I'm trying to get it home on insurance.

God bless you David and Joel for driving me home to England. Us PH'ers look out for each other smile

I'm lucky enough to drive during Industry Pool for a manufacturer. I did some training back in 2012 (having driven it for years on computer :P) And since then I've done around 600 or so laps. Won't do so many this year, as the project I'm working on won't need any 'Ring validation, but it's a great place...and I'm very lucky to get to do it.

My car has the Mountune kit on it. It adds about 25bhp, but as I suspected, on a hot lap, it doesn't really make much of a difference, as I'm pretty sure the car drops power off a little due to getting hot....

Ah that explains the nice knowledgable driving.

Sabre tuning at castle coombe are a good outfit for the rs tuning. They also do intergrale,s and fiat coupes and other kit also. I can recomend them.

Quite a lot of unseen work has been done over the last 4 weeks and I`m excited to see how it changes the handling at the Nurburgring trackday next Tuesday.

Before that I`ve been invited to attend the Coventry Moto Fest / Pop Bang Colour "Built not Bought - Performance show on Saturday where the Pinderwagen will be on display

The only cosmetic changes since the last outing are some additional vents to the airdam which feed a second set of ducts blowing into the centre of the rotor

Saw you on the way back to the ferry, beeped at you. I was in the white 911 smile

There was evidence the outer scoop wasn`t catching enough air from this water trail after Rockingham

To address that I`ve also added a second scoop to sit in that airflow and direct it into the brakes.

Just need to load it onto the trailer tomorrow ready for Coventry on Saturday as everything else is finished and it`s ready to go biggrin

FA57 BTG?
Whoever was driving FA57 BTG was on it! I slowly caught up on the last lap I did with my mate in the car, and whoever was driving was doing a bloody good job of getting everything out of that Mini.

The Pflantzgarten looks huge, but weirdly, I didn't even realise it had got out of shape there until watching the video back. I think it looks bigger than it actually was. Quite honestly, it felt more out of shape over Swedenkreuz....

Yes FA57BTG was going really well, although as I pointed out to my mate you really wouldn't want to be going slow with a plate like that!

Really good day we thought with numbers capped about right, it's going to be interesting how Darren's day will be capped at lower numbers-it'll feel empty!

No serious closures and it seemed they both happened at the same time (M3 and Megane crashed on about the same lap?), LordBenny's little whoopsie was an eye opener though eek

We were in the orange 997 GT3RS, our first visit in the car so hopefully we didn't get in anyone's way whilst we were getting to grips with it.

By the end of the day, we were getting some really good laps in as we got used to the car doing 8:14-8:24s and we were really pleased with that. It's such an amazing car, unlike anything we've driven round there before.

Such a shame that so many have become garage queens

I had a fabulous day in my E46 M3, first time I've driven it there, I'm used to driving the Rent 4 Ring Swifts and can get one round in about 8:50 which is not too shabby for a car with 149PS.

I managed a fastest lap in the M3 of 8:44 with the timing showing 8:34 was 'optimal'. Can't wait to go back - car needs a race seat as even at that lap time I am sliding all over the place hanging on. It's amazing how much harder I found driving a heavyweight rwd high-power car than the lightweight fwd Swift I am used to.

My mate in similar car (M3 with NS2R tyres) managed 8:18 which I thought was amazing - GPS showed him going into Klostertal at over 100mph.

Don't know if josh is on here ( fa57 btg ) but he managed an 8:08 which was impressive. He's actually just arrived back out there now after winning Enough to pay for another trip on the ferry casino. Went home and headed back the next day haha!

Shame its over, it all went by too quick - What a great first trip to the ring it was though.

As usual a lot of over excitement in the morning and people going at race speed without warming up - nevertheless the "Ring claimed its few victims for the day.

I tried with all my efforts to keep speeds down in the morning - as the day went on I was able to set a new personal best time, the new changes does make the circuit seems much easier and enjoyable.

I found the quality of drivers on the day to be fantastic - except for a certain Italian plated boxter who just refused to move over smash

What/when the next trip? winkbyebye

Before the coolant hose went pop. The 12C is due to be picked up from Raeder Motorsport next week and dropped off with McLaren Ascot. Fingers crossed no serious damage.

Again, apologies to any of you I delayed (or scared) on-track.
