I'd love to purchase the 2008 BTCC Leon TDI chassis and put it back on track.

The chassis itself is about 2 minutes from my house but has no engine or box.

Drop a PD BKD engine in it and an 02Q manual with strengthing mods. I know a company who have a fully sequential box in a Leon TFSI (02q based) but it's around £6k for gearbox alone.

TSR have the sequential box.

Been chatting to the owner of said chassis and it would be going back to SEAT Sport to have all the original stuff refitted if it was being done.

That'd be an interesting project if you did it! :-)

(Please do, as long as it's slower than mine laugh)

Great purchase, well done. I was watching the 90's btcc at Knockhill over the weekend on tv, awesome machinery, Cossie, Laguna, Cavalier, Primera.......took me back to PS1 and the ToCa.

You work for VX, throw it into Masterfit for a full service Saturday morning, track it Sunday, job done.........

2.0L NA, 11:1 compression, 8.5k rev limit....approx. 300bhp.

On this theme, does anybody have a copy or link to the technical regulations for BTC-T cars, they are not on the BTCC site anymore.

I used to race in the LMA Euro Saloons series (BRSCC) against a lot of ex BTCC and super touring cars. It may be worth seeking out some of the guys who ran these and then speaking to the teams which ran some of their cars.

A lot of the super-tourers required pre-heaters to get the engine water jackets up to temp, along with heater pads on the dry sump tanks to get the oil warm prior to trying to even crank them over.

Depending on the spec of your motor, I would seek some advice. SBD have a good reputation with high powered vauxhall lumps http://www.sbdev.co.uk/Parts%20Catalogue.htm

good luck.

I can't wait to see what you do with this. Loved looking round it whilst I was working at the open day. Can't believe they've sold it!

Great car, well done. You won't experiance a better fwd car than a ex touring car. I have spoken to a few owners of ex cars and they can't speak highly enough.

Things to concider...
- geo will be critical on these things, think about how you are going to get this checked every time you go out
- if you are doing track days, what tyres are you going to run? Some operators won't like slicks and if you run slicks you will be mind-blowingly quicker than everything out there.
- the engine will need a refresh each year.
- i assume you are going to tow it? sorry for the dumb question, just checking!
- everything will be bespoke so if you brake something you will need a good fabricator to make you another two or three.

Finally, race it!!! Don't piss around on track days trundling around, use it as it was designed and built for. Happy to guide you through this if you want and have nothing to offer/sell/gain in return.

Great buy, this is what we all dream of sometimes I guess. Have lots of fun with it!

It makes me wonder why Vauxhall would sell this. It's a nice piece of their history, surely they must allways find a place for it to park? Can't be because they need the money too, I think...?

Hang onto it until its eligible for the classic /historic package and watch the value rocket .
I used to help look after this one .
Nissan motorsport Europe built super tourer .
The most impressive thing was the brakes ,like hitting a brick wall.
Ridiculously cheap to buy 10 years ago .
Anybody with an ounce of skill could achieve 90% of its capabilities, getting the last 10% was the bit that requires the skills of both driver and engineer.
Good luck and enjoy .
