Nurburgring 2018
Discussion
If it helps anyone in the North with Ferry choices then P&O Hull (Rotters or Zeb) have a 10% discount valid until the end of January where you use NSQ1 at the payment stage at the end not at the start.
P&O are about £580 RTN with a big trailer after discount where as DFDS at Newcastle are about £950.
DFDS offer no discount when you have a trailer but have reduced the fare as they were £1250 in 2017.
Its annoying to drive past a ferry terminal but P&O are hands down cheaper for single car or trailer with a later check in and an earlier arrival which when you are towing is handy for making the check in. Just that bit further a drive on the UK side but I've grown to prefer Hull mostly due to the late check in, sail time so short and arrival being so early and more efficient to offload than DFDS Newcastle.

Absolutely love that thing.
however, I'm a sucker for graphics and have always had a yearning to recreate Jag's Le Mans winning livery:
From south of England, I think I'd always go for the tunnel. Watch our in France this year as my French friends are all up in arms on Facebook about them lowering speed limits. The can and will prosecute British drivers.
Always a bit of a lottery in Belgium - a good satnav [i]can[i/] help to avoid queues. Once past there's not really a 'right' or 'wrong' way, although personally I always love to go past Spa on the way, for no real good reason.

Thanks. Plan to visit Spa at the same time also. Always a bit of a lottery in Belgium - a good satnav [i]can[i/] help to avoid queues. Once past there's not really a 'right' or 'wrong' way, although personally I always love to go past Spa on the way, for no real good reason.

Me too for some odd reason. However in an attempt to avoid traffic last year, we ended up going through Holland on the E314/A76, which spits you out into Germany first on the A4, then south on the A1 then the A61, which are all de-restricted from memory. It's a nice route which I'll try again this year.Strangely this is always the way we've driven back, regardless of traffic.

Two main routes people from calais take are. That Jag is pretty badass. ^^^^^
Calais towards Brussells on e40, round the northern part of ring road then follow signs to Luik (Liege) E40, then head toward Vervier E42, Past Spa, carry on to Prum exit then cross country to the ring. Roughly 280 miles
Calais towards Dunqerque, turn off at jct 57 towards Lille, from Lille follow E42 to Liege, Then vervier spa prum as above. Roughly 290 miles
The Brussells way is shorter but much more traffic, avoid Brussells ring road during rush hour. Our preferred route is the second, Been back and forth for 20 years. My personal preferrance as quieter less frantic. Lille rush hour not bad.
Some people go via Aachen then drop to the ring via the autobahn, never liked that route. Also you can from Liege head towards Eupen and then leave motorway and head south via Monshau on the B258 to the ring.

Some very interesting scenery that way, but on the negative side, there's also some horrendous road surfaces on the Belgian leg of the route, including one bit the locals have dubbed the road to Hell: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBOPZSFg29kGassing Station | Track Days | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
