A little help please - are single seaters allowed on track days? Fancied one for ages & one has come up locally at a decent price.
Soundwise (dB) it won’t be an issue but concerned I won’t get it on normal track days.

Pretty sure most of them stipulate that the wheels should be covered. You could maybe get away with some kind of mudguard similar to what caterhams/rage buggys have but i can't say i've ever seen one on track like that.

Assuming you mean single seater in the sense of a formula X type car then you can't take it on a car trackday, covered arches or not. You'd be limited to some sprints or single seater only trackdays and the only place that's looking at that is Anglesey that I'm aware of.

watch for drive by noise on radicals or budget £500 for a decent exhaust system and yes the vendor will tell you it has never been an issue , then the noise tester recognises the car and says "what this one again!"

My Peugeot is for sale if you're thinking sports prototype and fancy something a bit harder wearing than a Radical and no noise issues! biggrin

What you moving onto Matt? I’ve sold the GT4 hence looking to replace it with something more track focused

I've got an option on a 2012 F1 car so am trying to raise the funds to make it happen. We're only down at Bedford Autodrome if you want to come and have a look at the Pug?

Track focuses is definitely the way ahead if you do a lot of track days etc. the difference between a proper racing car and a really, really good road car is incredible!

I've seen BAC Mono's and a Lotus 340R on trackdays, so cars like this do seem to be accepted.

Road derived cars so just on the acceptable side of 'the line'.

Not sure why you’d want a single seater or radical on a track day. Surely the pace difference between those and a regular track day car, coupled with the overtaking rules would just make it a frustrating day?

Not true, my Rad generally gets on 105db static days without issue, the only place it has a problem is castle combe, and then one of these will fix it for around £70 without any loss of power: https://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/p/merlin-mild-s...

Depends upon the model and exhaust fitted hence OP may need to budget for replacement.
Just because you don't have a problem with yours doesn't mean the OP may not have an issue , I was a noise tester for MSV for 7 years and they were regular issues with the race exhaust fitted .
And yes the meter is certified and /or replaced every year and calibrated every day without fail. The driveby meter is very precise and Radical drivers are frequent black flags for noise at several venues.

He’s right, you’ll get bored of waiting behind all the slower cars (EVERY other car) on a track day. You’d be better off doing your ARDS test so you can do test days instead. You’ll then be on track with other race cars and will be able to overtake more.
You could then run a single seater on those days.

You could look at an RGB car like a Spire GTR, Arion S2 etc. Fairly similar to a Radical but cheaper. Obviously not as fast but still faster than just about anything else you'd find on a trackday and very focused compared to any kind of road legal sports car (although they can be made road legal too).

I had a few passenger laps in one of these at Thruxton a few years ago and the grip that thing had was incredible. I've seen your advert on eBay and it looks fantastic - if I had the space for a trailer I'd be very interested!
