I am looking for some helmet advice. I purchased an XL omp star helmet, whilst the helmet itself fits my head rather well I find that the positioning of the neck strap is too far back and combined with the large quick release buckle it is digging into my neck and my adams apple, restricting movement up and down, making left and right unconformable.
Has anyone else got this helmet and experienced similar? Any recommendations as to alternative helmets?

TIA!

That looks uncomfortable!
I think your best bet would be to try some other helmets on and find one that is better suited.
I can’t see a way round it really.

That is the correct position for a chin strap on a helmet, that is to ensure it can't be pulled off.

Don't have it done up so tight? It doesn't need to be choking you just stop it from being pulled or thrown off your head!

This.

By definition the "mounting points" for the strap have to be behind where the front of your neck will come to, to stop it being pulled off.

The strap isn't done up tight in that photo, can lift the lid up almost an inch off my head before the strap stops it

Might be worth taking it into a helmet shop and asking them to check the fitment.

Looks about the right position to me, if anything i'd say your Adam's apple was too close to your chin haha.

If the strap was any further forward you'd look like a grenadier guard lol.

I’ve got the same helmet and it’s fine, it does look a little tight in that photo.

If your not used to wearing a helmet it may take a while to get used too it.

Bit like people who can’t wear seatbelts as they don’t like the restriction.

I like to be strapped in tight rotate so never been an issue

I have that helmet and also a Sparco full helmet but I can't say I've ever had any issues with the straps on either helmet.
