This post coming at you with permission from PH Headshed. Thanks team!

On Thursday 17th and Friday 18th of October Mission Motorsport is hosting two back-to-back charity track days at Rockingham Motor Speedway. This will be the very last opportunity to get on track there.

Despite the venue closing for business last year, the owner has very kindly donated a small number of days for us to deploy as fundraisers for Mission Motorsport. Other than the cost of providing marshals and safety team the entirety of funds raised goes to us at the charity. Want to know what we do with it? Go to www.missionmotorsport.org and find out.

The event has just gone live and is around 50% sold out already. It is limited to 70 cars on each day. Priced individually on the Thurs or Fri, plus a double day option, it offers great value at a circuit that one simply can’t book any more and will cease to exist as of Oct 31st when it is re-tasked as a storage facility.

Primarily a fundraiser for the charity, the days will be an open pit, full international circuit, “loud” 118dB day. We're capping numbers to make it that extra bit special and by joining us you're helping Mission Motorsport to do more, for more. This wouldn’t be possible without the huge generosity of the Rockingham Hub owner Stuart Wright, to whom we are enormously grateful.

To book please follow the following link – this is the only way to join. We'd love some of the PH community to join us.

Booked in and can't wait! I really thought i'd never get the chance to drive the circuit again - I was reading about the motorcycle trackdays there only a few weeks ago wishing they'd do a few last car days there. Really looking forward to it, double positive that it's supporting a great cause.

Now to pray to the weather gods!

Mega, cheers Andrew, see you there!

Can't believe we got it, plus a mental 118dB day. The vast majority of what we do is capped at 105. Bring those earplugs!

Will it be classed as open pit?
Are the garages available and have power?
What version of the circuit will it be?
Also is a Radical welcome?

Thanks, smile

Is this something that a local can turn up and just watch for a small donation to the cause? Nothing track worthy in my garage but be good to see the track in use for one last time and esp at that noise level.

Hi Jay. Yes it's open pit. All garages booked up already sadly for both days.

It's the longest layout, the International.

And Radical is very welcome!

That's a good question...!

There is an insurance issue (isn't there always?) for non participating attendees. Will look into it. A donation may fix it, wait out!

I have just booked for Thursday
I was so sad to see that it was closing and never thought that I wouldn't get to drive there again.
Just hope that it is dry, so slippery in the rain!

Please could organisers confirm the 118dB static noise limit mentioned in the article?

Booking confirmation has come through suggesting 102dB drive by. Which is it?

It's probably both. Driveby limit is usually lower because the point of measurement is 10-20 meters from the track, whereas the static test is done at 0.5 meters from the the exhaust outlet.

Hi Ben,

Please can you confirm who's running the trackday as I need this to book my trackday insurance.
I heard a rumour it was Destination Nurburgring (Ringweekends Ltd)?

Sure, although static is done at 75% whereas driveby (depending where the trap is) can potentially be at full throttle.

My issue is that I pass 118dB static but will struggle with 102dB drive.

Woohoo, I've booked on.
Will be in a Caterham, so not ideal for such a fast circuit, but will try my hardest to catch up in the corners - and I'll keep out of the way of the fast boys on the banking.

We were just saying in the weekend at Brands races its a shame this place doesn't exist any more as I'd never been there, what a bonus to read about this, thanks for letitng me know PH.

Work on 118dB static and all will be well! We've issued the limit, the main working rule we've been given is "No F1, nothing unsilenced"!

Rumour has it correct! Darren at DN is the TDO for the day(s) - his numbers etc available on his site. He's a long standing supporter and volunteer of us at MM, has just had our blokes out with him at the Ring this week, is on the Race of Remembrance organising committee and we owe him a massive debt. Top top man.

Plan B is that there really isn't a Plan B! As it's fundamentally a fundraiser there's no fall back position as the venue closes a couple of weeks after. But... skin is waterproof, if it aint raining it aint training, and we'll be running unless someone else pulls the plug on our behalf!
