OK, that is never going to happen with well over 140 bends then.

I have done around 50/60 laps & in no way think I will ever learn it but I have found there are a few sections/complexes that I love & it is just the whole scale of it that makes it what it is.

On top of that, if you do a track dey there rather than TF days, you can lap & lap, it is much better.

I don’t know whether I’ve driven the Nordschliefe or not, as there’s obviously something I’m missing in there vs just saying the Nurburgring. I’ve driven round that and found it quite frustrating queuing forever, then getting one lap and queuing again. Not something I’ll be repeating. I prefer a track I can drive and learn over a couple of sessions. My comments around Spa were based on my experience and agreeing with another poster who mentioned it. I also mentioned so,Ed other European tracks that he should try if he’s feeling dventurous.
I am pretty sure you would have noticed if you had driven it. It's very long, very narrow and very tricky. It's the one where Lauda had his big off in 76 and after which F1 never came back. As for queues, I never had any in track days there.
It's entirely possible to like two things, Spa and the Nordschleife.

Cadwell, Oulton, Anglesey, Donington in that order however nearly all my experience is on bikes not in a car. Mallory is fun as is Llandow. For my Silverstone, Snetterton and to some extend Pembrey (all old airfields) although generally fast aren't as much fun, I prefer elevation changes to flat high speed circuits.

OP, I wouldn't bother with Knockhill. It's a short, uninspiring, bike circuit.

I didn’t actually criticise it initially, I just said I disagree that it’s “arguably the greatest track in the world”.

I think you need to spend a bit more time there and probably on a track day rather than TF to form an opinion.

You'll find very few people who agree that Spa is not a patch on the Nordshleife. I am still not convinced that you aren't just talking about the GP track...

I’m not an expert with the Nurburgring, I don’t know how many layouts it has. I did the one that you queue up at and get a lap and then queue again. In my experience, that’s the one everyone talks about and shows videos of when they talk about the Nurburgring.

After experiencing that I won’t be rushing back or saying it’s one of the greatest in the world. I think we’re stealing this discussion away from its intended purpose.

Ignoring the Ring v Spa thing for a moment........

Don’t be put off doing Silverstone, the GP is a great track to drive in anything from a C1 to an F1 (I may only have experience of one of these at this venue whistle ).

And if Rockingham strangely reopens (again) make sure you get there.

Book a trackday at The Ring, TF is pretty poor value these days and very high risk.

I'm just back from a chilly Knockhill track day which ran 3 groups of varied cars seamlessly for 5 hours plus 1 hour for lunch. £ 69.00. I was testing some mods on my race car that has been to 6 UK tracks and Spa in recent years and Knockhill is as challenging as any of them. The toilets have been refurbed and the two eateries are very welcoming with decent grub and coffee. Knockhill has improved year on year and long may it continue as it's our only car race venue up here.

I'd say Cadwell is my favourite followed by Croft.

I've done Oulton 2 or 3 times and I'm not that excited by it to be honest, its not a bad track but I find the costs for track days there are quite high for what it is personally when there are other very good tracks within close proximity.

I did the Silverstone National circuit and wasn't overly impressed, maybe the full GP track is better.

I agree James, Caldwell is fantastic although it requires large cojones in places.

Silverstone GP config is the only nice one, and it's very nice.

Both on my 2020 calendar whenever TDOs release dates...

It does, Coppice flat out is one, the Gooseneck with a well timed overtake down the hill is another and the entrance to the mountain is another.

Coupled with several other corners that feel very special when you get them right.

Love it, best track in this country IMHO.

Bedford is good with technical and fast sections. Silverstone GP track is good but the short track very average. I also quite enjoy Thruxton although it is a bit plain as is Castle Combe which I find a bit uninteresting.

Brands may be better if the full track but the short track isn't great imo.

I want to try Anglesey and Oulton Park next.

Anglesey & Oulton ae good, but make sure you take wet weather gear for Anglesey, it is always wet!

I would absolutely have Brands GP at the top of the list, especially if you like Cadwell and Oulton. It's at the top of mine. biggrin

Next on your list should be Goodwood. It's fast and a former airfield but it's superb fun no matter how slow or fast your car is. It's also one of the very few circuits which are actually pleasant to spend time at. Castle Combe is similar in theory but I have been surprised at how much I like one, and dislike the other.

I'm afraid I don't get Bedford either. Too many slow tight corners and no interesting fast ones.

Goodwood is my local, I drive past it every day but I never go anymore. I get bored after a few laps and I don't even know why. But the hospitality is superb, like on the rest of the estate. The other issue is that the front left tyre takes a battering...

Try it in a nicely balanced light RWD and it might be a different story for you. No outside front problems in the cars I've driven there (old slow Alfa, Elise, Caterham, GT3). smile
