Laughable, if you think you can fit 1 wheel/tyre in the boot you have done well, you will end up with 3 on the passenger seat..
I don't think anyone said they will fit in the boot, just that they will fit in.

I've had four wheels in a Smart roadster, but that doesn't quite meet your power requirements.

Regularly took 4 track day wheels/tyres, trolley jack, some tools, soft suitcase for up to 4/5 nights away if in Europe, helmet and two 20 litre fuel cans to track days in a TVR Cerbera.
How did they all fit in? 3 wheels in the boot?

How about supercharging the 968? Theres kits available with a centrifugal compressor, then you can keep your car, just add power smile

The 968 is an absolute track day classic but I understand your yearning for more power. As others have said look into getting it boosted.
Not sure on costs or practicality of it though?

Today's spotted might be perfect if it's just a little more power you're after wink

Bentley Brooklands Coupe

Could probably fit the whole pit crew in there too.

One wheel upright in near side rear passenger seat, one in offside rear passenger seat. Each had the wheel outer face pointing to the outside of the car so that a third wheel could sit horizontal on the transmission tunnel between the seats. Fourth wheel vertical on the front passenger seat and jack in front passenger footwell. All the wheels were in soft cotton bags to preserve the leather interior.

Used a ratchet webbing strap to secure the rears, and the seat belt for the front wheel. Wouldn’t want them all flying around in the event of an accident.

Boots in TVRs were made large enough for golf clubs sets, so plenty of room for cans, luggage and helmets. Rear footwells also a small stash area.

That’s a fair squeeze in the TVR.
Many thanks.

I think I’ll pass on the Bentley.....new set of pads after 15 laps?

Nah, you'd probably change them every time you went for fuel - so more like 5 laps.

I am really enjoying my Porsche 968 Sport track car. The fact that it can take a full set of wheels and a 35kg trolley jack (as long as you don't take a passenger) is something I find hugely useful. It does however, lack a bit of power.

While there is no track action going on, I got thinking's what else might do the same? Obviously the 924s-968s will. The Porsche 928 is too heavy and I am not interested in BMWs. Any obvious contenders in a 2 seat sports car/coupe style, preferably V6 or V8 and 300 BHP or more?
I went through the same challenge having tracked 944S2, 968CS, 944 Turbo's.
It's great having a full set of street-legal tires to drive home on.

Couldn't find anything else than BMW Z4 3.0Si / Z4M Coupe.
They can fit 2 wheels in the rear, including jack and tools.
Basically I always ensure to have tread left on 2 track wheels and tiptoe home.
Big advantage is there will almost always be someone with a BMW you can borrow wheels from in a pinch

If going full trackday you could remove the divider behind the front seats.
Probably could fit 4 wheels then.

Other alternatives could be BMW 130i, BMW M3 E46, Porsche Cayman, Porsche 996...

If you dont want to supercharge it maybe a corvette c5 could do? They arent that light and have massive tyres, so not so easy to fit them in, however lots of speedparts available.

With my 205 wide tyres i could probably fit 6 wheels, jack and tools in my 924 turbo, mostly had 4 though. A bit tighter with the roll bar now, but still alot of space smile

I don’t think the Corvette is my kind of thing I’m afraid. The supercharger for the 968 is a nice idea but not really sensible unless you plan to keep the car forever I fear.
Do like the TVR idea. Other thought is a Cayman and just renew the tyres more often.

Perhaps consider going for something lighter so that you don't need to take a second set of wheels?

It means 4 cylinders though - a Ginetta G40R is under 900kg. Or the usual Elise/VX220 option.

Or the restomod route. When I was at a Silverstone track day last year a chap had a MGB GT with a 220hp Duratec conversion, 5 speed box and 4-linked rear end, all kit supplied. It was very quick.

FWD and 4 cylinder but a mk3 Renaultsport megane will take 4 wheels in the back with the seats folded, a trolley jack and pretty much anything else you would want to take. Driven to spa a few times like this.

A 275 is a weapon. Many, many upgrades available for more power...

fantastic trick question looks like most folks don't get 2 seater only?

there is nothing apart from some maybes R26, Cooper Gp but I suspect the wheel size is so large they wont get 4 in the back.

968/944T wins again!

Not sure you'd get even one tyre in a Jaguar F type, so that would be a non starter as a track car or a toy to whisk the Mrs to a week in the South of France. Those 968s are just so practical.

Thanks for all of the replies. Seems a 968 Turbo S is the answer. Shame they only made about 14 of them.
