Nurburgring 2021

Brilliant couple of days as always despite the fog delay on day 2, least it was dry for the most part. Always have mild withdrawal symptoms when I come back as the next Ring trip feels like a long time away …I really hope travelling will be more straightforward next year but at least we finally got some action !

Absolutely epic visit this time. Took my 7 year old son on his first Ring trip. Couldn't have been a better weekend. 4 laps and he loved every second.
Brilliant.Does he have a PlayStation or Xbox? If he does, needs one of the Forza Motorsport games or something so he can learn and drive the track himself.

Good to hear as you've been particularly unlucky, but you got there in the end. And back home presumably.I know the feeling about withdrawal, it is also normally mixed with a feeling of relief that I got away with it once again without bending anything.

He's got an Xbox One. If you watch the laps in the link you'll hear him tell me how to do the carousel right and not to exit too early lol

O/T: So you were in the pit next to me at Silverstone - I was in the white 997 Gt3, with the guys with the the black 991.2 GT3 touring, Carrera GT3, and KTM XBow. I reckognised the red Lotus from the 'Ring. Did you have an Alfa Giulia at DN in 2019?

Thanks yeah car was spot on after my scare the week before the trip and I echo the thoughts of having survived another one! Tbh the 570S is much too fast for my ability level especially at that track only time I really used full throttle was down the main straight, so bumpy along there when the speedo starts to fly! 70-75% throttle car still goes like stink and is alot of fun. I did indeed. Bit wet that day eh! LolO/T: So you were in the pit next to me at Silverstone - I was in the white 997 Gt3, with the guys with the the black 991.2 GT3 touring, Carrera GT3, and KTM XBow. I reckognised the red Lotus from the 'Ring. Did you have an Alfa Giulia at DN in 2019?
We were supposed to go this year and last.... but for obvious reasons we didn't make it. Did you manage to do DN this year?

TBH, as much as anything, the worry of having to quarantine after traveling (rules keep changing) and the faff of all the COVID testing put me off. Where did you test before returning to UK and what did it cost? (On the off chance this thing keeps going for years it'd be interesting to know).
Was yours the flat red or metallic red Giulia?

No DN. I was supposed to be doing more UK track days, by way of 'compensation', but that's not gone well so far for various reasons. So having been 2016-2019, I have now missed two years.

Travellers over was easy. No need to test for the outbound, I only needed my vaccine certificate to get through Chunnel checks. On the other side we actually got stopped at a random police checkpoint, but it was only a license and vehicle check. Arriving in Germany we only needed our vaccine certificate to check in to the hotel and it was also checked at the GP Circuit where we were watching the racing.
Testing to return, we took our own LFTs with us and just did them at the hotel the day before we left. £28 each and you only need to register them before you go, then upload your results when the test is done. You get an email back a couple of hours later with a pdf to upload to your Chunnel booking. Remember to add your locator form before you head back too. Lots of people forget this and it causes delays getting back.
We got back Sunday afternoon and only needed to show the vaccine certificate at the Chunnel. Tuesday morning we did our PCR day 2 tests (£58 each) and I posted them on that way to work.
And that's it. Easy!
Both the QFs at DN were metallic red. Best colour

We're thinking of going over next weekend to watch some racing (and pick up some parts that we're having difficulty getting delivered to the UK).Arriving in Germany we only needed our vaccine certificate to check in to the hotel and it was also checked at the GP Circuit where we were watching the racing.

Where did you get you LFT kits from?
I assume the NHS ones you get for regular testing are not usable for this purpose?
