How was the circuit days double? Conditions looked perfect wished I was there!
Two fantastic days. Day one was the quietest of the two. For most of the day you would have sworn that you were on a high end trackday as the track was so quiet. Most people seemed content just being here rather than driving. ecsrobin said:
Do tell. Not seen anything on the groups I’m on.
Heard it second hand but lots of red flags and someone dropped fluids causing another crash which lead to a v long stoppage... DN days have always been pretty good re driving standards but didn't seem to be the case yday.RSbandit said:

There was a few reds but not overly long. In fact one closure opened earlier than expected. Yes a few cars did not come out of the day well. Thankfully all drivers were ok.
In general though the weather was perfect and it was a good day with very little traffic on the track at most times.

Actually driving standards were great. The fast guys were decent enough not to bully people out of the way and the slow guys (except one) were always mindful of faster traffic coming up behind. The dropped fluid was rather unfortunate. It happens to a few older kettle 911 GT models. There wasn't much the owner could do. As for the other crashes - it's a race track, people push their cars and sometimes they do come a cropper. Happens in racing all the time too. Overall a decent day - would it have been better with no red flags - of course, but overall, still feel my friends and I had a lot of fun.

Everyone lived to fight another day, which is the main thing.

Was the issue coolant lines on a GT3/Turbo? These days drivers really need to have those fixed preventatively.
Yes, and 110% yes. It’s a very well known hazard and should be pre-empted.

My point is, if a garage is looking after a 996/7 GT3 or RS (to be used on track) then they ought to be aware of and discuss the issue with the owner.
Without derailing the thread, full info here: https://www.sharkwerks.com/tech-articles/the-gt1-c...
IMHO it actually ought to have been tackled by an OEM recall/modification, but that's another matter entirely.
I’m aware of that particular issue, there is some anecdotal evidence it affects hotter climates more than Europe although it’s not unknown here-I followed one at Spa when it happened
When it’s the joints you mention it does tend to be a catastrophic loss of coolant, not what happened this week (where the car in question had lost less than half a litre of fluid before it was noticed and pulled over).
The garage in question don’t think it’s that problem although further exploration is needed.
Main thing is everyone is ok.

Sports & Classic advise pinning (like Sharkwerks in USA) and Fearnsport advise welding, which also works. Some though, do neither. When it’s the joints you mention it does tend to be a catastrophic loss of coolant, not what happened this week (where the car in question had lost less than half a litre of fluid before it was noticed and pulled over).

As you say, important bit is everyone is okay. Was a very nasty one a few years back, initiated by a GT3 losing coolant.
FWIW I did not think the red flags necessarily indicative of poor driving standards, but rather, mostly just bad luck. It happens.
Good to hear no one was injured and also that it was more bad luck than poor driving standards that caused the red flags. I always have my car inspected by McLaren before my annual ring trip just to make sure all is in order, they then recommend any work they think needs doing whether it be consumables or warranty related. Even at that it's probably not a silver bullet but it does give me some peace of mind that the car is in good working order.

Didn't some early McLaren's have issues with Oteker clamps popping off causing coolant being dumped on track?ukkid35 said:

And people still take the piss out of TVRs for being unreliable.
