Is this how it's going to be - Porsche hate??

I've had my Porsche 718 GT4 now for 2 months. In that time I've had so much Porsche hate. I just can't believe the behavior of some people, from hand shandy signals, to tail gating, trying to prevoke a race, cutting across me. I've never had this with the TVR, the Lotus or for that matter the 981S that I've owned. It's happening virtually everytime I drive the car and it's spoiling the enjoyment, which believe me is hard to do. What worrys me is, if there is this much aggression on the road what's going to happen when I park it up unattended??

I had much the same with my GT4. At some points I was getting some very nasty looks when just filling up with fuel.
Maybe it's my face (it's fecking ugly) but having a new bright red Porsche with a big wing on the back made me feel like a target in today's Britain.
Like you it ruined the enjoyment and ultimately the practicality of it as I just didn't feel comfortable leaving it parked up. And that was one of the main reasons for selling it.
I drive other cars (Lotus etc) and don't have the same issue, including a silver Porsche 996 which slips under the radar very nicely indeed.

I've only had an old Porsche (968) but it did seem to attract admirers and haters. The former was a group of girls in a convertible making friendly gestures towards me. The latter was anything from being told "what an ugly car " by some fat bint at a Halfords tent in Ewell/Epsom, getting tailgated by a van and getting confronted by a bloke at a petrol station when I didn't drive to the 'correct' pump - no apology when I pointed out I needed the premium gas. It wouldn't stop me getting another one.

Try south Norfolk B roads in an Elise, people pull over and wave you by! Cheery waves while driving (carefully) through villages too.Found the XJ8, Elise and Chimera have a very friendly reception, same for VW camper, MG a little less (pretty common I guess).
Everything else fairly neutral. Clearly something loveable and ideally British helps. I wonder how a Moggie Minor would be treated?
My brother's MK10 Jag was funny, driving round Norwich the traffic just parted in front of it. I don't know if that car simply has presence or "associations"...
I suspect it's more jealousy than anything else.
Some cars seem to challenge fragile egos far more than other cars. By contrast I used to own a Lupo that was modified, lowered, nice wheels, black roof, no badges etc. I received the most compliments on that car despite having owned nicer, quicker more 'flashy' cars. I think it's because no one ever felt threatened by it.
People are an odd bunch.
Some cars seem to challenge fragile egos far more than other cars. There are no situations on UK roads with the traffic, cameras and limits where a wing is required. Unless you're within 5 miles of a circuit it just says "boy racer".
Don't let it worry you though, it's your money, your car so just accept 90% of the population think it looks stupid and continue to enjoy it.

Lots of jealous and slightly unhinged people out there that have only been made more so by the challenges of the last 2 years. The way of the world I'd suggest and just something you need to live with if you want nice things.
I had a very similar experience at times when we got our Tesla M3P back in 2019, never let it bother me TBH.

I have a neighbour with a red GT4. Must have the full sports exhaust as it's the loudest car for miles, even amongst the local Barry boy Fiesta ST's and local Subarus. It doesn't help that he sits there with it idling for a full 5 mins or so before pulling away. I think it's loud and i'm about 150-200 metres away at least. Closer neighbours must get quite annoyed.
The spoiler sticks out (literally) too - easy target for some who don't understand what the car is for and just think it's been barry'ed.

WTF relevance does this have?
