Is there any PHer that does garage doors in the Berkshire (SL1) area? Just had Garolla come out, as with all these things, positive and negative reviews online, but they're coming out tops on Trustpilot, but it's franchised and no granular scoring on local fitters, though the guy seemed nice enough.

Was wondering if anyone would recommend Garolla or if they've had experience of any others I can try? Or if there's a PHer that does this as a business, happy to support a local business.

Looking for a roller door, in anthracite, approximately 4.4m wide and 2.2m high, electric.

Thx

I've recommended rollerdoorconcepts (www.rdcuk.com) on here a few times and people have posted to say that they should be avoided however I'm over 3 years into having my large double electric roller installed by them and I've had no issues and would happily have another one fitted.
Can't remember what I paid exactly but was under £2k all in

Make of that what you will!

I've come across them on Instagram but their negative reviews seem to be piling up. 4.4 on trustpilot against 800 reviews where Garolla have a score of 4.8 against 4000 reviews so will give them a steer for now

Had a quote from Garolla - seem quite good so far, chap knew his onions. Haven't hit "go" yet, though.

Garolla should be avoided. Look for a Novoferm installer. Novoferm are the largest garage door manufacturer in Europe, with a 12yr warranty and excellent service parts back-up. And will be around to honour any claims, even if your installer isn't.

I'd happily recommend SWR, based in Hemel Hempstead

They installed Horman sectional doors for me. They're probably not the cheapest, but I'm pleased with the installation and final product

I had an electric roller door fitted to my single garage by "Make Any Entrance - MAE Windows & Doors Ltd" in 2019 and they did a good job and I have had no issues with it whatsoever.

They're based in Frimley so may do your area.

Not local, but recently had a door installed, so may be useful for reference.

Hormann roller T, 4.2m wide came in at £2400 all in (I expect prices have risen since the price was quoted in Feb, installed in April). Have had a few snags including one of the relays not working so had to wait 6 weeks for a replacement cct card (worked electrically, but not remotely). One of the threshold strips removed itself, door company were useless, so jobbed it myself. And won't be recommending the firm based on experience.

Overall, pleased with the door and functionality. It faces prevailing winds and keeps the weather out really well, which was my main issue previously. Having a wet garage sucks.

I have 2 of the above but in an oak finish. Brilliant doors but the company I used in Staffordshire were dreadful. Took 6 months to get the job done to my satisfaction.

We just ordered a pair of Hormann sectional doors both 8ft wide, windows in top row, RAL colour and colour matched frames to fit in recess.

£2550 per door!! gulp, is that about right?

I'm in East Berkshire, and I had a Securoglide roller shutter garage door fitted last autumn by NDC Garage Doors.

When I was looking, my choice was narrowed down to between Hormann & Securoglide.

£1.8k for a standard size single garage door.

They look good, prob about right as mine each a foot wider, windows on both and between pier frames.

Do you have motors and still locks / handles?

The right hand door is manual as they couldnt fit a motor due to a low(ish) beam running across the inside of the right hand ceiling, the left is motorised so had the handle placed on the outside just to make it look symetrical. Even though the righthand is manual its sprung loaded and makes it so each to open and close. They are not individual garages as there is a large opening between the two inside.

Google 'Novoport' operators. The control unnit is wall mounted and drives a motor which runs along the side track to open and close the door. Specifically designed for low headroom type installations.

https://www.novoferm.co.uk/products/garage-doors-a...

It can be made to work on your make of door too, I'm sure.

Roller doors aren't as good as sectional doors. Also look into the ownership of that company and decide if it's as stable as a major player such as Novoferm.

Do You work for them as you seem to be pushing them in a way bordering the obsessive? Their reviews are very mixed.

Don't work for them, but do work in the industry. My comments re. sectional being better than roller are based on knowledge of the relative relability of each product type over their service life. I've used Novoferm as an example as they are Europe's largest garage & industrial door manufacturer (all types). They therefore have a far better likelihood to still be around for the duration of their warranty and also keep all service & wear item parts in stock.

The quality of a garage door installation depends on both the product selected and the skill of the installer. A good installer can make an average quality door look good. And the opposite is also true. A domestic buyer needs to choose wisely on both counts.
