Fun, cheap runaround thats ULEZ compliant?

Currently have a BMW E82 N54 135i which is in need of some serious work(oil leaks everywhere, got a bunch of mods need installing) so i wont be able to use it for a while. Since that is my only current car at the moment, i'm in need of something as a runaround for the time being. The thing is, i also want it to be somewhat fun so I won't get bored of the car. Anyone have any suggestions what I could get? Preferrably i want it as cheap as possible, under 3k but dont mind strecthing it a little bit if its worth it. I was thinking corsa but idk if they're fun on the twistys.

How about an old Suzuki Swift Sport?

Should be reliable (more so than a Corsa or Fiesta of similar vintage) and always gets good reviews for being fun.

Mk1 Audi TT, your budget should source you a 225. I think in terms of bang for buck, and having not (yet) succumbed to inflated market prices, they're a bit of a small / fun / dailyable performance car bargain.
