Congratulations on achieving CIOB, that's great news!

I too am looking to achieve this. May I ask how long it took you to achieve?

Realistically, is 1 year achievable? Also is it theoretically possible in even shorter time?

Thanks.

What's holding you up on RICS? It shouldn't be difficult if you're recording what you're doing.

Or are you going for the new(ish) five(?) year "by experience" route rather than the two year structured one?

Not sure what you would be expecting to get out of it, but to be honest it doesn't confer much.

Unsure if anyone is going to look at this feed now but looking for some advice on RICS. I've been working as a contracts manager for a building contractor and I've been offered to pursue either my RICS or CIOB, I think I prefer the RICS route and have spoken with them about becoming associate RICS however, it seems as though you need someone within RICS to sponsor you to get into RICS? through the assessment anyways? does this sound right?

When it first mentioned I assumed it would just be a syllabus to complete with exams along the way to pass but this doesn't seem to be the case, it seems complex and to be honest I'm confused with the whole process.

I'd really appreciate some guidance if possible.

It needs to be reasonably "difficult" as otherwise everyone would do it / have the letters!

Exactly, 10 years on Monday since I sat my assessment. The hardest thing I've ever done and I'm still proud to say I'm a chartered surveyor.

Completely agree, I’m proud to be a chartered surveyor too! My dad is chartered as well and he was proud to pass in time to put it on my birth certificate
