Worst job you have ever had?

Admin job for Amec Facilities at Monsanto chemical plant over summer at uni, had no work to do but they had to keep the position filled or role would be removed. Had to sit in front of a PC with no internet all day. Passed the time by filing in a cell red in Excel every 15 seconds and watching the row turn red over the day
Lasted 3 weeks and got sacked for being late which was one of the best career moves I have ever made
I still remember the moron bloke who was my boss, and his ridiculous economic theories, and his belittling of me for being a student. His lifetime ambition was to go to Vegas with his sad mate and fk a hooker.
Wonder if he is still working there 20 years on, might get my PA to give him a call on Monday! Joke.

I did three weeks part time at a McDonalds when I was 16.The place closed for three days as someone poured the chip fat down the drain out the back and then it rained a lot and flooded. Wasn't the first time that person had flooded a McDonalds either.
I think stacking newspapers was worse though. Or the afternoon on a phone switchboard where I couldn't understand the names of anyone asked for and couldn't figure out how to forward calls. Or the dodgy guy that wanted to stand over my shoulder while I filled in applications to dodgy online money making schemes for him. Actually I think that was almost certainly the worst.
Got laid off and needed an income and walked into a role in gas/electric sales for 2touch in Sunderland - they hired literally anyone without much in the way of screening etc...
Got sacked the 1st day of training for " or being a team player" as I dared challenge their questionable sales tactics for closing
Thats what led me to changing direction altogether onto my current path (thankfully!)

Summer job working in Morrisons warehouse. amongst my tasks was collecting and disposing of the waste from all the supermarket counters.
One day I was throwing the bag of waste from the fish counter into the skip when the bag ripped and I got covered in fish guts. After throwing up I walked straight to my locker, got changed and went home never to return.

Sorry, couldn't resist
My worst job was mowing the grass between runways on an airfield.

I worked in a Coop chilled warehouse and was putting 5ltr tubs of rollmop herrings on a shelf which was roughly at chest height, unspotted by me the lid of one of the tubs wasn't on properly and the contents went all over me. Ended up driving home in my boxers to get a change of clothes. One day I was throwing the bag of waste from the fish counter into the skip when the bag ripped and I got covered in fish guts. 1977-78 - Making Smarties at Rowntree McIntosh in York - back-breaking, lung-clogging, deafening, sleep-depriving, explosion risk, career 'smartie-bashers' (Rowntrees Robots) driven clinically insane by the mindless, pointless existence they were experiencing.
The up-side was fantastic pay (for an 18 year-old), a veritable library of grumble mags in the break room, free use of Yearsley Baths and witnessing a comical rendition of the Tour De France at the end of every shift

My 1st ever full time job in 1988 was a mixed bag tbh
I was a runner at aged 17 in a clothing factory and as the only male in the factory floor with over 300 woman and it was hell all year apart from the xmas party.
I lasted a year before moving to a different clothing factory as a cutter, again as the only male but this time with only 25 woman and that was the best job I have ever had tbh.
Move on 28 years and I clean deep fat friers in hotels etc, Sounds bad but I am able to work 2 nights a week and have enough wages each month to have a comfy lifestyle.

Worked at Burger King for 2 years in my late teens /early 20's, made some great mates, had some great leisure time with them, drinking etc, easy job, had a laugh on the job, if I could've been bothered to become a crew trainer and work my way up I would've, I couldn't though. One of the better jobs I've had, though the money was rubbish (as you'd expect). 227bhp said:

Pulling down lathe & plaster ceilings on a hot day. Sweat made the dust & dirt stick to you like it had been plastered on you!
You certainly knew all about it when you got hit by a lathe falling from the ceiling. No PPE in them days!
