Working from home.. Where?
Discussion
Hypothetically as we are becoming more remote working nowadays due to Skype and email..
If you were dedicated to work from home, but needed an airport (within one hour) that flew to major destinations direct - London, Paris, Madrid, Barcelona, Berlin, (and connection to) NYC, and Asia.
Where in the EU would you live with a young small family? South coast of Spain? Balearic islands? England? Wales? France?
Fast internet connection and 4G mobile signal is a must! Staying in the EU due to working hours (0700-1900hrs GMT).

Menorca is lovely. Though both can can get hot in the summer. Can drop productivity... more work, or an early drink by the pool with the kids.
Just into France near Geneva for mountains and access to Switzerland; though I speak French so would be biased to both these areas. Alternatively the Atlantic coast - La Rochelle is nice, and the airport is fairly well connected IIRC.
Sweden; Stockholm - though the taxes are high, the social care is also high. Family care is good.
All depends on your language skills - can be lonely at first as I understand it; you can just mix with expats but that is a limited group; ditto for family. There is a big difference between "getting by" in day to day to shop, etc and being integrated and building local friendships. Easier to integrate where the locals have near fluency in English and where it is taught in schools from an early age. (though kids learn languages very very quickly)

I've spent the last 3 years working remotely in various locations. The end game is to buy somewhere in Spain and split the year between the UK and Spain. Property prices never recovered post-recession there, I enjoy the weather, food and geography. Cost of living is lower on the whole which is an added plus.
For the past 3 years I've enjoyed weeks here and there, and longer stints of a month in Toronto, Dubai etc.
As for the working hours issue (my clients also rarely know I am not UK based), I have found that being a few hours "ahead" of GMT is favourable. Starting at 5/6am UK time gets a lot of praise from clients having work delivered so early in the day, whereas in Toronto starting at 10am or so (5am TO time) didn't win many friends, even if you were still delivering work at 10pm - 12pm UK time the same night.
Next summer my partner and I have discussed a month in Copenhagen (she is from there) and I'm looking forward to that.
The idea from the outset for me was to be location independent with a view to renting/buying a second home in one location. However, I have to say I have quite enjoyed moving from place to place for shorter periods so far. Why tie yourself to one place, at least initially?

You guy that have managed to become "Digital Nomads" ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_nomad )
Are you self employed ? or have you lucked out and managed to find an enlightened employer that isn't stuck in the stone age ?

My Uncle does pretty much that and lives near Leiden, a short drive/cycle and then 15 minutes on the train to Schiphol. Lake nearby for his boat and a windmill about 200 yards down the road.

Surely the whole point of working from home is you don't have to be in somewhere like London? If you want lifestyle plus good business, it is Munich.

My boss is in the US - i see him once a quarter in Paris or London to get drunk. His boss is in France - i see him once every two months in Paris or London to get drunk. I see my direct team once a quarter in Paris or London to get drunk. And my indirects once a year to get drunk.
They do not care where i am, as long as the work is done.

wife can quit and we can just enjoy life instead of wasting it in traffic!
I work from home and I'm based in Fife. Edinburgh Airport is 15 minutes away. Fibre BB (when it works) and 4g
I could be anywhere really and my predominantly American client doesn't really care where I am.
In fact, one of the girls I work with does quite a bit of travelling and keeps working. Nice setup if you don't have any ties.
Keep trying to talk the family into going somewhere more clement but they're not having any of it yet.
