20 days AL at 12 hours or at 7.5 hours (pro rata)?

I'd imagine a weeks leave would be one quarter of your total leave entitlement?
Definitely worth checking this point.

20 leave days from a 12 hours shift is 240 hours. Statutory minimum is 224 hours I believe (8 hours x 28 days, 8 of which are Bank Holidays) but if you work an irregular shift pattern then they can pay it pro-rata so you would get 18.666 "shifts" off including time for bank holidays - and bank holidays can also be paid in lieu if you have to work on them in this shift pattern.

Thanks,

Never knew that,

I'd love to do that. Plenty of people end up doing 8pm-6pm 5 days a week, every week on a flat salary, quite often for similar money in more deprived areas. If the 35k is fair cop in terms of your contribution I would take their hand off personally. For camping/caravanning I could imagine it being great, if that were your thing (its not mine)

Think if I was looking for a new role, I would certainly consider that definitely.

On 12 hrs we get 17 days (35hr week). Bank holidays (8) are in addition.

Just about to start 2 weeks off. 3 days A/L used

Made me chuckle when everybody was raving about the bank holiday/Royal Wedding a couple of years back and them amazed over the revelation they could get a week off with just a few days holiday. Yeah, I have that every other week biggrin

The job offer for the OP is basically binge-working.

It's essentially a 72hr week, followed by a week off, followed by a 36hr "long weekend", and so on.

Binge-working and shift-working shorten your lifespan and are not healthy.

That's not news. Shift work isn't good for you.
WHO now classed regular night work as a carcinogen I believe. Still, I get £4 extra for a night shift.laugh

I used to work a regular 70 hour week over three jobs to make ends meet. 'To 'binge work' and average of 35 hrs, usually less, is like a holiday!

Given the choice of working every day and living a long life or having plenty of leisure time in my prime and dying 10 years early, well adios, I hope you enjoy your care home dinner laugh

I see your point if you look at it this way, Work 3 days, day off, work another three days, 7 days off.

a nice day off mid cycle, , then 7 days off is good enough for me.

I've worked many years in IT and have never seen such shift pattern.
Personally if the money is good enough I'll definitely go for it. The time offs looks good and should balance the binge portion of the shift.

I work 4 on 4 off at 12hours. It's great. Some days are long but it doesn't feel much more than an 8 hour day. The 4 shifts fly by to.

Due to a HR cock up I also get 30 days @12hours holiday (including BH which we work).

That is a matter of opinion for which we could have a big debate.
