What a delightful turn of phrase!
If I'd known this was an alternative I wouldn't bother paying my train fare...

I'm thought of as a rather abrasive person sometimes. I don't go out of my way to be difficult or rude but sometimes people piss you off or are just stupid and you have to let them know. Which I do regularly!

But (OP) you went out of your way just to get one up on the HR lady and thats being deliberately nasty, thats not pleasant.

By all means be a hard-ass but not a nasty one.

I think there are times when we can all be less than pleasant.

However it takes a special type of person to gloat about upsetting a woman on the internet.

Why only a woman? Why is not as bad if he had said it was a man or a Ze. Are you saying women are mentally weak?

It is people like you who put the glass ceilings in place.

Who said I was nasty to her.
I simply pointed out the error she made in saying what she said.
People in her line of work go out of their way to make peoples lives a misery at every opportunity. They throw their weight about costing people their jobs for any petty reason they can think of. Oh one of your brakes is not on, yellow card. You took your glove off, red card. Off the job.
And no, I have never been asked to leave a job for any other reason than the job has finished, on to the next.

Just the type of person we all try and avoid on site, because they just bring you down.
'We try and avoid on site....' laugh Is there a wker smilie.

I bet you are the first there and the last to go home and have 'your' seat in the canteen that nobody else dare sit at in case they get talked about and get some harsh looks after you have volunteered to take some gear back to the suppliers in your own car because it is 'on my way home'. Not because you are an arse kisser just because it is 'on your way home'.

I bet you would do a week for free after the job has ended just because you are that type of guy.

I'm not used to being in an office environment where I work for the company full time, so it's all quite new to me. My 2 gripes: H&S and HR. I salute you for your minor win. Can't say I'm a hoot at work, simply because I'm there till April and really dislike working way below what I'm specialised in.

Business is business. If you decide to react to someone’s comment and are surprised by their reaction then it’s your problem. People in areas like HR have different lines of communication and you need to be very careful.
You may win several battles and lose the war. Of course if you are never permanent maybe it doesn’t matter.
I have always been very careful about quickfire reactions. This does not mean going around smiling like an idiot but in judging what I say.

I said what you did was nasty not that you were nasty to her. Using her mistake as an opportunity to have a go which you justify on the basis that people doing her job somehow deserve it! That's a pretty big chip on your shoulder about HR!

I can honestly say I have never had a go at anyone based on their job or anything other than their individual actions or inaction.
