And, Thankyou for the replies!
Feel free to ask any questions going forward if there's anything you need a bit of perspective on

Hi Folks, just thought I would say thanks for the input.
Today is my last day in the 21 weeks residential training part.

I start at depot in a couple of weeks time!
I'm really looking forward to it!

I believe there is a chap from PH starting in the next bunch after I leave too!

Good luck to you mate!

No, I work for a Principle Contractor in those regions. Always good to have contacts inside Maintenance.

Am sorry I missed this thread, a friend of mine's lad just finished his apprenticeship and is now a TO looking after North Wales. He really enjoys it. Only one word of warning, I believe his year was the last guaranteed a job at the end, so make sure you make a good impression over the next couple of years and get good marks when you return to Portsmouth for the sessions there. On the plus side they are very aware of the investment into the apprentices and are keen to keep them on.

Thanks to you for starting this thread and giving me the idea to apply, I've just come out the other side of the apprenticeship and been offered a team leader position so the last 3 years has paid off. beer

I was on their Graduate Scheme about 12 years back. Stayed there for the 2 years, got offered a job following completion of the scheme (in which you're doing a job the entire 2 years anyway), but left to join a different company, as NR couldn't really offer me the direction I wanted to go in.

I'm in tech/IT, and NR isn't that great for that, given most of their stuff is outsourced.

To be honest, a lot of us did the 2 years and left. NR Grad Scheme is a good CV builder.

Hated Westwood personally - all their leadership training is designed around group work and tasks that heavily favour extroverted people. Fine for a day, but when you're stuck there for 3 weeks it's too much. It's a great facility, though, and NR is a decent place to work overall.

My son in law has worked for them since leaving school. Seem a really good company to work for. he started as an apprentice and now is quite high management. NW paid for him to do a foundation degree in Engineering, and are now paying for him to do another degree. Also very well paid. Good luck!
