Job was going great until new regional manager came along
Discussion
I worked in a business who decided to get in a new manager after the last one left.
Generally, a lot of the staff had worked there for a reasonable amount of time & all the staff were friends/socialised together.
The business made pots of cash & work moral was very good.
The manager they got in, decided to 'shake the business up' told people he would be getting rid of anyone he didn't like & EVERYONE was under scrutiny.
Many of the staff complained to the owners, however, the owners said they supported their new manager. (The manager has been brought in on big money & they obviously thought following what the manager said was the right way to go given the company they poached him from.
Within a month of him working there, they'd lost over half of their workforce, the owners still didn't listen as it was in an industry where staff are plentiful/disposable & easy to come by.
They even tried to force ridiculous non-compete contracts on un-skilled jobs.
(All a bit of a storm in a tea cup).
WIthin 6 weeks about 90% of the staff who'd been there for a number of years had left & were working elsewhere & had left on bad terms.
Shortly after this (a week or 2), said manager had an almighty falling out with the owners, packed their bags & left.
The business has had considerable downsize in takings since the whole episode detailed above unfolded.
