if there was an assault , you should have talked to the police and not your employer. Lesson learned, now it's time to move on.

Not sure if the radio silence is a good or bad thing, would be good to get an update, hopefully everything is sorted now with both the old and new employees.

I think both are fine in UK and Australian English usage.
There is no formal rule book and it is a constantly evolving language.

Although, to be just as fair, that was said on a different thread, about an entirely different subject and before the opening post of this thread appeared, as I recall.
