Collected my Madone SLR today and the guy at Trek informed me that the oversized clamp for carbon rails on the SLR seatpost is available. Not sure of the part number yet as I need a few more parts after its been stripped/resprayed and I built it up again so will be ordering a few bits so will get it then.

That looks like a laugh, and a good excuse to get away from the crap weather here.

135 ( odd ) miles per day, over 5 days, that’s do-able.

Patience! It’s getting stripped this weekend before the frame goes off to be painted and rebuilt. Only the bars and frame will be original, all other components will be replaced to suit my position and taste.

Pics when it’s complete ... probably April some time smile

There was a bit of a clanger dropped

https://twitter.com/darrenfranks/status/1231277723...

The neutralised start fell apart when the police escort missed a turn. A dozen of us followed the route and the rest followed the police. Now regrouping at the end of the neutralised section after 2 hours 🤣

Anyone know what the strategy is for this one? A couple of very short sleeps I imagine if it’s 40-50 hours? I can’t find anything about his preparations for this one.

I think the strategy went out of the window at Jebel Shams

https://twitter.com/darrenfranks/status/1231608579...

https://twitter.com/darrenfranks/status/1231610166...

Not ashamed to admit that Jebel Shams broke me, along with every other rider, it seems. Nothing like the profile suggested. 2km @ 20%. Everything else +15% or -15%, including the 9km of gravel. Unrideable in 40C with 400km in your legs [1/2]

Heart bouncing off the limited just coping with the heat. Walked 30-40%, which trashed everybody’s core. Never known muscle fatigue like it. Bonked last 2hrs. Desperate to make it down before dark. Left just before sunset and smashed it. Hardest thing I’ve done on a bike! [2/2]

He has quit - dodgy back
