So even though this weekend’s Duxford Flying Legends was cancelled, we still got to see a Duxford Spitfire. Quick trip up the M1 to Barnsley hospital (where my wife works), and over it came:

Tracked it from taking off at Humberside Airport at 17:00, then to Doncaster, and Barnsley bang on time at 17:20, then to Rotherham.

Lots of staff came outside to watch, and loads more people on the surrounding footpaths. Really great to see - they still pull a crowd, and for a good cause.

It’s their PR XI, which has just been restored to airworthiness following an accident last year.

Saw it at Northampton, but mis-read the timing meaning I had to run as fast me little legs would go to get to a viewing point uphill from the car park. Got some absolutely crap pictures as a result... frown

They came right over my house between Newark and Lincoln hospitals, but I went to the wrong window and couldn't see them. Went outside quickly to just see them heading off into the distance. frown

I watched it in the distance over Chesterfield Royal Hospital on Saturday. What surprised me more were the 2 other Spitfires quite low over Tupton immediately afterwards that followed it, did anyone else see them? Possibly the two that were at Dame Vera Lynns funeral?

Nope, just one. There was an A400M that crossed paths (at different altitudes!) with the Spitfire en-route to Barnsley though.

I wish I'd taken a photo of them now, Just as the first one was heading towards Kings Mill Hospital they came over.
