Bad habits whilst working from home
Discussion
As a slight aside, due to working from home / lockdown, I have a lot of unused leave remaining, partly due to two cancelled holidays. My company is sticking to the maximum carry over of 5 days, while my wifes company is allowing unlimited carry over. Neither of us are "essential workers", but have carried on working as normal since the start of Covid. Anyone else's company being particularly strict like this ?

Our place has gone the extra mile for the home setup.
$1500 to spend on equipment - desk, chair, monitors, headsets etc.
Expense your home internet.
Loads of support and regular care parcels / extra stuff sent through
Regular feedback surveys to see what extra they should do
Resulting in additional support for childcare costs and a cash bonus to spend on anything you like.
Plus the best of all - no meeting Fridays
What is in the care parcels? Tissues?$1500 to spend on equipment - desk, chair, monitors, headsets etc.

Shave once a week
Work in tracky trousers and a t shirt a lot
Drink too much coffee
Did start taking an afternoon nap but I've stopped that now
On the flip side though, go for a run every morning, no commute, saving loads of money.
Reduced my monthly data allowance on Giffgaff as I'm barely using it what with Wi-Fi at home. I used to surf loads on the train on my phone.

b) Working from home is a privilege,
Disagree with you there. It can be handy, but to have it thrust upon you isn't good in everyone's book. I signed up to work from home when I got my job 2 years ago. I decided I'd dedicate a room of my house to work, and wouldn't miss seeing colleagues in the office too much. However there are a lot of people missing their coworkers, having to work from kitchen tables because their house doesn't have room for a home office just kicking about, etc. It has advantages and disadvantages. I weighed up both and made my choice, but I know plenty of others who didn't have the chance to do it for themselves.

Mine have recently come out and said the same. Fine with me. I'll just take more holiday, and carry over the 5 days. I've got a very relaxed December coming up. fat80b said:

That's good of them. Very good. My employer has allowed people to take things home to enhance their experience (Desks and chairs included), but won't re-imburse for internet and the like. I can't complain, as there's no more 440 miles per week of commuting, which outweighs the cost of the internet and electricity.$1500 to spend on equipment - desk, chair, monitors, headsets etc.

Be glad you can carry “just” 5 days. I cannot carry over a single day.
That is poor, really. My company dropped to 3 days in the past couple of years, and with the stipulation that they must be taken in the first quarter. Not sure there's the Q1 restriction this year.Gassing Station | Jobs & Employment Matters | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
