what headache of SMG going pop?

I know someone has fitted the V10 into an E46 M3 and used the manual box you mention, probably because getting the electronics to work would have been more expensive and complex than the rest of the conversion lol

Personaly Id not consider removing the SMG as I really like it and from what I have seen its a strong setup if the clutch is installed correctly.

the idea of a manual on the v10 is a terrible one, would you be able to change gear quickly enough and if you could then you`d be changing gear an awful lot!

I think Dinan in the States did an E30 with this engine, can't remember what box they used though.

Err, didn't the E60 V10 come with a manual gearbox in the US? Shirley it would be easier to find out what they used\did in that or alternatively just import one.
