Many thanks for all the steers.

£730 price increase by BMW from 1st April onwards apparently. On top of that the RFL increases in April from £355 to £800.

So.... getting a car this month works out £1,175 cheaper, not to mention a £220 lower RFL for the first 5 years.

Furthermore, buying a low mileage used car registered late 2016 works out even better as the service pack is 5 years instead of 3.

What a mess...

That's why I pushed for mine for delivery early March and thankfully took delivery on March 4th.

I picked my the M2 on March 4th and have just had it professionally detailed by Definitive Detail in Chelmsford, they are an accredited Gtechnic dealer.

I cannot fault their work, it is excellent.

There are quite a few cars 'coming in' so to speak. I did some investigating and while my local dealer said 2018 at the earliest, they told be which dealers had unallocated cars coming in. I made my choice, contacted them, struck a deal and had the car inside 2 weeks.

Very nice!

Picked mine up last Friday and getting it detailed next week. Felt a bit sad trading in my M3 but and loving the M2 so far.

Just noticed the updated 2018 version is out with the revised dash, LED lights etc. Subtle changes but very smart.

So I may pull the trigger now, anybody know if any discounts are being given and if so how much % off list, also wait times, is there a long wait list still or are they more readily available? Just want to be prepared before I contact my local dealer and start the process of oh we just can't get them Sir and we don't give discounts on M2's!! More than happy to shop around but don't want to waste too much time if I can get a decent deal from my local dealer which normally means getting them to match a deal I've found elsewhere.

I also just did a quick Google search and found a finance offer from a BMW official dealer at 3.9% APR which is extremely competitive.

If anybody can give me any info/advice on deals that would be great, thanks....

The supply on the new cars is a bit sporadic, if you enquire with some of the smaller garages they will tell you they have no allocation. The bigger groups that shift more cars seem to be getting more in at the minute and there are pre-reg cars around. If you look/shop around you should be able to get a discount off list on a pre-reg.

Hi

Go local, speak to Chris (he’s on here), tell him I sent you.

PS have you decided on your GT3 colour yet?

Thanks, I will give Chris a call, would rather by locally if I get looked after. I adored my 1M, so hopefully the M2 will be a lot of fun. Colour choice still changing on a weekly basis!! Thanks...

Have you driven an M2?

Depends what you want from a car, but the 1M is much better in my view.

I haven’t driven one yet, but I did own an M235i for a bit which I really liked, I imagine it will be a much more polished version of that with the all important M x-factor, I want something bang up to date, new tech, classic BMW straight 6 noise (never been keen on the M4 engine noise, too synthetic for me) and fun to drive so think it should fill that brief very well. The 1M is a very special car so I would not expect it to live up to that - what a car that was, proper x-factor stuff and in black it looked reallly mean with its over the top aggressive stance. Chris Harris raves about the 1M and M2 so that’s good enough for me! Cheers...

I would test drive one for the day first, I got bored of it in one day.

Ditto. But if you can live with the e steering (which I presume the 235 had), and the pogo suspension (not firm and "stable" like the 1M), it could be a good replacement.
