Will be looking at selling my M5 soon and seeing as a lot of you guys are watching the market, could you advise me what it's worth. It's a 2015 15 plate with 34000 miles in sakhir orange with silverstone leather and 19" wheels. Still under warranty and has the service pack included. I'm
The 2nd owner. Not sure what's are options and standard fit but does have reverse camera, Harmon kardon, piano black interior trim plus all the usual. Any advice regarding pricing is welcome. Thanks

12 months ago I got 41k for a 32,000 mile 2015 15 plate Black on 20" with Individual platinum leather & multi functions seats, reverse camera, a 26k loss over 12 months (ouch) I would imagine the trade are bidding 30-32k for them now?

Does anyone think that AUC prices will continue to drop? I am tempted to bite the bullet in a few months to get one, but at the same time possibly waiting until next Spring.

Unfortunately for those of us that own these cars already, yes! tongue out it's absolutely certain.

It's just under £500 from memory. (£415 + VAT sticks in my head for some reason)

I can dig out my invoice if you really need to know exactly but the way to pitch it is "it'll cost me over £1000 and it's worth more to me than £1000 off the car...".
Hi mate, just PM'd you about extended warranty cost.

OK, you don't buy a M5 with mpg in mind...you buy for a number of reasons i guess and one of them is the 'go' - not had my car long but every time i use the power that's available I'm still amazed and blown away!

But, its nice when you can have your cake and eat it and since this thread is about living with the car in the real world, a little update - further to me getting 28 mpg on a run recently my usage has been more of my usual 8 mile urban commute to work and back, a combination of 60 mph and 30 mph and the car is doing 22 mpg (36 mph average) (with the odd indulgent burst of speed here n there!)

quite happy with that bearing in mind the engine oil temp is barely off the pin?

Other than that the car is proving to be excellent - all the things expected of BMW's finest!

Well , after 18 months of fun that's mine gone to a new home . I can't imagine that it will be the only f10 m5 I ever have but the new 4 wd one does appeal too ....

Went to view, drive and buy a 12month old M5 with less than 4K miles.
Drove to the dealer on my Porsche 911 turbo.
Had high expectations for the M5 but was thoroughly dissapointed and have eventually purchased a new M4 competition pack instead as a daily driver.

The M5 was hugely comfortable, however as a performance car just didn't deliver.
Tried it in all the various modes but found it a bit of a big, blunt instrument. Wanted to like it and buy it but unfortunately it just wasn't for me.

However as an extremely fast cross continent cruiser can't think of a better car.

Compared with the M4 CP the M5 will feel a little blunt tbf. It's obviously not suited for your needs. It's still by far the sharpest most competent car in its sector judging by pretty much every review.

For me the M3/4 is a fantastic toy but its interior is a huge let down for a 60k car, pretty much identidal dash to a 118d. The F10 is now a 6yr old design and at end of its cycle but still much nicer inside.

As you have said The M5 is a great long distance chariot but as many have said pretty epic in balls out mode... it even lapped considerably quicker than the M2/3/4 on the Gran tour track so not bad for a 2ton barge.

Is it bks.

It's pretty much equal E63 AMG/ F10 M5. If anything reviewers prefer the AMG.

And before you ask, yes I've done my research, as I was on the way to owning both.

+1
I have a competition pack M5 with an M performance exhaust system and it's an epic car.

I had use of an M4 for 3 weeks where I covered around 1k miles in it.

The M4 I found is more fun on B roads and short hoons when driving around smaller roads for which it was brilliant fun.
However, the negatives were cheap looking interior, road roar into the cabin & the sound lacking.

The M5 CP, I found superior to the M4 in everyway bar the one thing mentioned I liked about the M4. Every where else(space, refinement, sound, comfort, practicality, build quality & Performance and long distance cruising ) M5 for me.
The grunt even from around 80mph is a step up from the M4.
Both great cars though and it just depends what you want/need.

Chris Harris/Evo magazine rate the M5 as the best in its class and that's good enough for me. Dynamically they gave the edge to the M5.

A wise person collects opinions from more sources than one. The M5 is a great car, but so is the E63 AMG. Anybody who thinks otherwise is either blinded by love for the BMW marque, or, frankly, stupid.

M5 Comp pack vs E63 AMG S. AMG wins. http://www.motortrend.com/cars/bmw/m5/2014/2014-me...

Plenty out there the M5 wins, others the AMG wins. The M5 is most definitely not "by far he sharpest most competent car in its sector judging by pretty much every review." hehe

I've had the c63ppp and now an F10 m5 and the m5 is far better than the c63 as a driving tool. Tho I do miss the 6.2!
Find it amazing that the E63 is sharper and more fun than the C63 with performance pack and F10 M5....

Maybe I'm wrong.

Rarely see E63's on track (I haven't seen one) but seen a number of M5's, not including all the ring taxis (all M5's)

A smart person has presumably read the article they'v posted a link to?

That review compares the E63 S AWD version which was never available to us in the UK so not a good comparison in helping to decide between the two! It's only this year with the launch of the new model does it come with AWD.

As mentioned for me, if Evo give it the win its good enough for me as I've always rate them as the best in their field. Plus I also preferred the M5 and that's really all that matters.

Further irony is that isn't a UK test, so you've chosen the wrong E63S to pit the F10 M5 against as that E63S isn't & never has been available in the UK.

Based on what WAS available in the UK, that being the non AWD variant of the AMG, i can't recall seeing a comparison where the AMG came out ahead (not saying one doesn't exist but not one i've seen when i was researching my purchase).

Quoting what most said & including the C7 RS6, it was basically the M5 was the better & more involving drive with the better chassis & gearbox, the RS6 had the best traction & was therefore the quickest & the AMG sounded the best with a few nice touches inside.

Edited to say i should have read the last post in the thread as i've repeated what was said above.

It was just the first I came across, and makes no difference to me whether its German, Italian or Polish. AWD marginally helps 0-60 and grip, but as the standard E63 is faster to 60 than the M5 it doesn't really alter much. One problem the E63 doesn't particularly have compared to the M5 is spinning it wheels quite so easily.

There is, I can't be bothered looking though.
In brief, my experience was the AMG was lighter and defter of touch at speeds up to 80/90 mph, above that it got a bit 'fidgety'. The M5 was more composed at higher speeds. It had a better gearbox, but this was negated by the better ride around town and sound of the AMG.

It's all very well being a BMW fan, and I've owned three, but it's a shame if that loyalty blinds you to the ability of the competition. Lots of fantastic cars out there!

BTW the AWD E63 is actually available in the UK right now, and is supposedly much better than the current M5.
