Resurrecting this thread as there is some great info on here

Having sold my 330d I am now actively looking for an M5. Would like one of the last produced as they seem to represent fantastic value for money. Only concern is whether I am best holding off a few months with more new shape models hitting the market?

Anyway, I have noticed a number of very late F10s in Silverstone II with Silverstone interior, CP & B&O. There were two AUC cars sold recently, and another now appeared and one at an independent.

Does anyone know anything about this. I’m assuming BMW built a batch to use some options up, but can’t find any info.

Any insight welcome.
I got close to buying a pre-reg Silverstone/Silverstone/CP/B&O car about April/May last year to replace my M5. It was listed at £58K if I recall and it was the low part-ex offer that caused me not to go ahead.

So if you are looking at around £50K, that would make sense. With regards to depreciation, anything new or nearly new at this price point will lose a lot of money over a few years.

My journey went from thinking about that particular M5 to looking at one year old M6 Gran Coupes which were typically around £60K with Comp pack and B&O. Not quite as practical as the M5 but a much nicer interior.
Yes I was looking around that time as well. I got a 66 plate 2016 car in the end as it was such a good deal (I thought). There were 2 or 3 Silverstone cars, I think they were 2017 year but 66 plate at around 60k initially and dropped eventually to around 56.5-57k. There was also a 17 plate car which started off at 68k and dropped to around 62.5k. I am not sure if one or all of them were the competition edition (which i think was introduced for the last few models) as opposed to the competition pack, perhaps others might know, or indeed may have actually bought one?

Now I'm not in the market any more I might open up my little market scraping app to the M5 buyers of PH. It emails you the BMW AUC market every day, with a summary of changes and a note of how long each car has been for sale. It's not perfect but it gave me a good idea of when to start calling about cars (eg when they reduce them in price!)

Send me a message if you want your email adding to the bcc list, then it'll take me a day or so to update the code to send to other people rather than just me smile.

Actual buying tips... I decided the options I absolutely wanted then started filtering out cars based on that. I didn't think I was being fussy; I just wanted an LCI with at least the HK stereo, folding seats and ski bag. It was surprising how few cars that left me with in my budget!

If buying an AUC car you shouldn't have too many worries other than consumables as in the previous post. Tyres and brakes are pricey so try to buy a car that's had both done recently, or haggle with the costs in mind.

I think I mentioned this earlier in the thread but another good point to haggle on is warranty. The renewal cost to you, when the 1 year AUC warranty expires and when the car is under 60,000 miles, is something like £1200 for a year. It costs BMW about £500. So you can pitch it as it being worth more to you than a grand off the car but it only 'costs' the salesman £500... Worked for me anyway.
Hello there Tomtom

Could you please kindly add me to the list. I'm after an F10 M5.

Cheers!

The BMW website changed now and the app no longer works.

How does it compare performance wise to the C63 PPP?

Is it still under BMW warranty or did you renew it at 3 years old?

Of course, what an idiot. This would interest me if Oracle or similar can offer finance on a private sale as the car is still under warranty?

Yes under warranty until 8th of October has been faultless to me apart from a parking sensor.

Very Fast car and on another level to a C63 ppp but the responsiveness of that AMG engine is a miss....

Maybe BMW could transfer finance over to you and keep the 0%?? long shot id imagine though

You also have the nose cameras ie when edging out of a bind junction you get a two way view in the idrive, I think you can use it for exiting parallel parking if driver side by the kerb. Makes it so much safer

That would be an ideal scenario, like you say probably a long shot. I'll drop you a PM mate.

Surely it wouldn’t work/ unless he passes the affordability and credit checks.

Actually it would have to be a totally new contract otherwise it stays in your name you pay BMW and this chap pays you + it stays in your credit report until cleared.

Good luck but I’d say it’s unlikely in the extreme

I have an late m3 competition great car but traction was no better than my M5 sure in the wet it's not grippy but what car is if 2 wheel drive. The comfort level is amazing. I brought mine 2 years old looks new, 20mpg performance of a supercar especially 30 to 100 no car short of my porsche turbo s would keep with it in a straight line. It has presence and amazing value for money especially when you think some poor sod lost 50k as a used car amazing. I'll but the new version in 2 years when they fall to the same price cheap super saloon car running
