My first post so please be gentle. I'm looking for a LCI E90 M3 Saloon with Auto gearbox and EDC and it's proving seriously problematic to find one in decent condition. They are as rare as hens teeth frown Not surprised they are holding their price well given the rarity of this configuration.

Any with decent spec are up near £28k or more at BMW dealers and the others seem to be a base spec or an undesirable colour. It's driving me up the wall! First world problems I know but it's been around 4 weeks since I began my search and I have hardly seen anything new hit Autotrader that's an Auto with moderate miles other than what is currently there...

I guess I will just keep on searching...
Only around 250 LCI E90's registered in the UK which makes it rarer than the 1M.

If I was looking to put money into an E9x M3 the saloon would be the only way I'd go.

That explains a lot I guess. I didn't realise how rare they are.

I need something ASAP so I suspect I'll end up ditching the Saloon idea and going for Coupe. If I had time to wait it out for a decent specced Saloon I would but I have been checking daily and nothing new has come up in a few weeks.

E9X M3 prices seem to be holding up very well. Struck me the other day that I bought my well specced FSH E46 M3 at 9 years old with 69k on the clock for £10k. There's not a chance you could buy the equivalent 2008 E92 M3 for that money today. Is it due to lower volume production, or that the used car market was on its arse several years ago and is now powering ahead?

I have an E90 330i now having sold the M3 last year, I'd like an E90 M3 but cannot justify the £13k odd cost to change.

You have to remember the E46 M3 list price was in the low £40k range the E92 V8 was £60k.

Be a little more flexible with your spec wish list and go with the saloon. You need to select on condition, miles, maintenance and provenance. Find a good one and I reckon it's depreciation free ownership over the next 3-5 years. You won't get that with a coupe.

I agree about the saloon, but having watched the values of coupes over the last six or so years, they've remained bouyant.

I can't see why that will change in the next few years personally.

Out of interest what spec do people think is likely to hold value point forward? A saloon auto is really tempting as a step towards something more practical (Z4M just now) but not sure if a manual is safer bet? I'm also not sure on various options yet. Always admired the coupe, but the saloon would allow for loading the kid easily.

As time moves on and good cars become rarer I don't think spec will matter. The only big decision is DCT vs Manual and I assume there will be sufficient takers for each. Not getting into the EDC debate but I know that splits opinions. Many other options can be retro-fitted if needed.

I'd compromise for a low owner, low miles car with reams of history and no worries it had seen the other side of a hedge.

I reckon now is a good time to find a nice example.

Thanks, I already enquired about that one but the distance is an issue for me. I'm London based.

Spec wise, LCI, DCT and upgraded audio of some sort would do me. EDC is a nice to have but I wouldn't turn a good car down if it didn't have it. Surely that's not too demanding?

This coupe is my brother's and will seriously consider any offer from 14k, has a baby and needs something more practical. All work done, higher miles but motorway work and runs absolutely spot on www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/bmw/e90-...

14k !!

I have an E90 M3, I'd nearly buy that to keep it company and sell it in a year or two at profit! That's an absolute steal

That's lovely (although I'm not such a fan of red leather). This is exactly the kind of car I'd be looking for a bit later this year.

Where do you get the info on uk registered cars? I'm interested to know how many manual E90s there are.. Pre/post LCI

From memory I originally found that in one of the BMW enthusiast mags - they ran a multi page review of the E9x M3 a few years ago. Probably BMW Car. I subsequently had that number informally confirmed by a contact I had in the BMW group in the UK.

I recently saw a link somewhere with great build data, which from memory showed the number of UK LCI manuals being in the "tens of units". Of course I can't find that now! If I come across it I'll post back.
