Is this the best time to buy an M2?

Why are there so many for sale?

Is everyone expecting the arrival of the M2 GTS or new version?

I suspect a lot of these people have purchased in the hope of turning a profit.

Why do so many people bang on about you can have an M4 for the price of an M2. We all know we can do that but some people don't want an M4 they want an M2.

OP there are a lot of M2s for sale as they're probably the speculators trying to make money as the car as we all know has a long lead time unless you're lucky enough to get a cancelled order and they're hoping people don't want to wait and will pay a slight premium, but are these cars selling?

Because one is a £40k car the M4 is a £65-70k car.

That is why so many people challenge it.

I have an M2, could have easily had an M4 (my dad has an M4 which i have borrowed a number of times) love them both but i know the M2 is going offer much stronger residuals ...

Yes residuals will remain firm as it's so limited

Why not?

Of course they will hold better

Agreed....not sure why people keep banging on about "could have had an M4/3 for the same dough"

They're different cars. My woman has an M3 and my daughter an M2. M2 win hands down for me.

Just because something is "limited" doesn't = strong residuals.

It's limited to x quantity. What do you think the marketing team expected the maximum potential sales for he car to be? -and if this limited number is less than the max assumed potential what % of that total? You'd have to wonder why a business would want to limit sales of a vehicle where they make solid margin (super cars aside of course)

It's not clear that they make much money from the M2; they have to take them off the line and fit the drive train by hand as it's too wide for the standard 2 series line.....

I'm not so sure these are as limited as you may think .
I was in BMW Park Lane this week and was offered either a cancelled order for delivery next month or a new car of my spec in January .

Am very tempted but regardless of future values , which means adding mileage becomes a problem, I'm thinking the 140m with a discount at 20k cheaper is the smarter buy .
I appreciate its not an official 'M' car but at the price point it's a relative bargain , not that it won't lose money of course .
Interested in others views actually

We all lose money on cars we buy, how much is down to negotiation, if you take time and play the stealers you will get a better deal.
The M2 was ordered by many thinking they would make a killing, They were wrong.
However ETTO and enjoy what you buy.

Agreed .
No discounts on M2 understandably plenty on the 140 though so good chance to haggle with the dealers .

Different price brackets and one of those cars you see in every BMW dealer, hence the huge discounts available, the other has a 10 month lead time.
