Anyone with a manual version?
They're all manual boxes it transpires, this one just has no clutch! Hence no hold assist or "creep"

I love this one as well. “Not allowed to tell you what the deal is but I’m really pleased” is usually followed by the salesman is now my best friend so “mention me and he’ll look after you”. Add in “I’ve worked in the trade so I know what I’m doing” and you’ve got the full house of PH poster boasty bks.
Not sure how this is boasting mate? I've worked in sales my entire life and have run three successful dealerships in the past, so yes I feel I have half an idea on margin terminology and negotiation.

My apologies if this offends you in some way rolleyes

The wheel is beautiful and along with the stereo are two options that are both significantly better than expected cool

blimey guys why all the hate rofl

i have no issue at all the specifics of a deal being confidential. salesmen aren't devils who should all be forced to match the best deal they have ever done. They have to make a living and if they all had their bottom margin hung out to dry on a public forum then they would quickly be out of business. Some customers are poor negotiators and make the salesman more money - some are tough cookies and the margin gets squeezed. Its the high margin sales that give the buffer to allow for the low margin sales after all!

The use of this thread for me is it gives me another option for someone to get a quote from before taking the plunge. There are hundreds of dealers in the UK and I'm not going to contact all of them to get a quote. Plymouth is a few hundred miles from me. I would never have contacted them without this thread so the info is useful even without specifics mentioned.

If Dave at Ocean can give me a better deal than the others I'm contacting then fantastic. If he cant then that's fine also.

Aside from figures (i haven't had my quote yet, hes crunching numbers currently) i can vouch for Daves attitude. My build is a pain in the arse. Individual paint colour, individual interior, colour coded Mperformance parts etc etc. hes already clarified many things for me about the IND side of things that two other dealers just shrugged their shoulders at and looked at me blankly with a "i cant be arsed to find out" attitude.

if you want to see if Dave can offer a good deal then give him a call. (please wait a week or so i can utilise his current margin buffer first lol)
Nice one fella, best of luck to you. My comment reference Dave looking after you, wasn't just reference the price. He did go above and beyond with us and getting spec' sorted? It wasn't just a box ticking excercise, he had to negotiate several times directly with both BMW UK and Germany as to what could be achieved.

Several of our interior bits are not "off the shelf" and he did a cracking job of getting the price right and also keeping us informed and updated.

May I suggest if you've had two identical quotes from two different dealers over a couple of days you're not trying hard enough! You've clearly received a standard offer and not negotiated hard enough.
Bit of an assumption there. I have been haggling for a month or more with multiple dealers. Congrats on the baby.

congrats on your new arrival (the human one - sod the car!) buying a new car is like toilet roll shopping in comparison lol

regarding your interior, Im going for java green contrast stitching (verde mantis paint but they dont offer verde mantis cotton thread - doubt itll be an issue). Dave said unless you pay extra the door pulls dont have the contrast stitching but all the rest does. I can see it on one of your pics just about but any chance you can upload a straight pic of the door so i can see if i want to spend extra on the door pulls? not sure if its "needed" or not.

as and when, no major rush as im sure your up to your eyes in the little one.

cheers mate

Oh Lordy, the longer that I linger on this thread the more I'm loving these colour choices. Doesn't help that I'm waiting an eternity (7 months and counting) for my Tanzanite Blue 440i to arrive. Seeing the Verde Mantis on the BMW Individual configurator (amazing choice Jimboo!) kind of makes me wish I'd gone the full monty and splashed out on one of those. Absolutely stunning. Oh well. Maybe next time!

No wonder many people have stopped posting on these forums, it's just stty reply and snide dig over and over again....
If that’s for me, my own comments regarding the deal were aimed squarely at the dealer’s story about having to keep the deal secret, and not in anyway at the buyer (DJP), which I hoped would be clear.

Although, I suspect it’s some other posts you’re talking about.

By the way, DJP, you mentioned the DCT not allowing ‘creep’, like an auto would. Actually you can get it to creep by tapping the accelerator but it’s not for the faint hearted though when manoeuvring in tight spaces!

Congrats on the baby, too!

Just to update this thread for you all. I have now ordered my new M4 zcp Individual (Verde Mantis Green).

Dave at Ocean came in with an exceptional deal but was beaten in the end by my local dealer.

As i agree with the OP about not airing specifics online regarding a particular deal i wont list who did what on here but ive had 4 dealers offer between 10 and 12% discount on an £82K spec. needless to say i went with the 12% option.

Starting point for all of them was around 5% so just goes to show that you have to put the effort in and talk to numerous dealers to achieve a great deal. I would certainly recommend Dave at Ocean as one for your list to quote from if any of you are in the market for a new toy. Really nice guy and a pleasure to deal with.

Also and this speaks volumes - he was very graceful in defeat and wished me all the best with my new car and as a final note asked if i would call him when the next one is due. One other dealer literally hung up on me and another started ranting about how hes bent over backwards to get the discount he had offered and how his job would be at stake if he didnt win my business.

When the Mrs X5 comes up for renewal next year Dave will certainly get a call but there are now two others out there who will not!

Thanks OP for the info - its been invaluable in me securing the deal even if not with Dave.

Congrats on a great choice. Verde Mantis is spectacular and I think really suits the car. If you don't mind me asking, how long are they currently quoting for delivery time on a customer order M4 with Individual options?

Strangely just went for a M4 test drive with Stephen James in Bromley yesterday. Nice people.
Sat with a configurator for a while after a test drive but honestly don't know how you could possibly get a car to be £82K. You must have ticked every option going and then some I couldn't see.

I was getting cars with prices around the 62 mark and they were talking about an 8% reduction on that!

They are currently walking me through their pre reg cars to see if theirs something that fits my spec there but to be honest these cars even with individual; colours and good specs are only making 50K a year old with very few or no miles on

Losing 30K in a year is just a step into madness I couldn't take, but good luck to you.

It's entirely possible. This pre-reg Verde Mantis M4 is at £72k, so we can assume that it was an £80k-plus car at list price. The paint alone is £4k. And worth every penny. It really is a stunning combination.

If I didn't have a 440 coming in a couple of weeks I honestly don't think I'd be able to resist this.

Comp pack car with DCT list is almost 65k add head up CCB icon LED full leather plus the individual paint you are well on your way to 80k

Why would this spec car depreciate to the level of a poverty spec manual? or am I missing something

Thanks. I’m awaiting the official due date as I only did the deal yesterday but the prediction is 26 weeks / 6 months. Good job I’ve already got one to drive in the meantime or it would be 6 months of hell lol

Very easily if you get carried away lol.

Individual paint £4K
Contrast stitching full leather £2445
Mperformance front lip and side skirts colour coded green £2k
Mperformance mirror caps £400
Mperformance steering wheel with race display £1800. (Fitted)

Then pretty much all options aside from ceramics and the safety package (my current one annoys me with the seatbelt tug, collision warning etc. So dropped it)

None of the mperformance or individual stuff is on the configuratior so you wouldn’t see that if you were to just spec using that.

How funny. That’s the exact car I based mine on after google searching verde mantis m4. On the image search that one comes up. I recognised the plate. This is where I saw the coded lip and skirts hence including them in my order.

Can’t see the full spec list on that ad for some reason. Not too fussed about ceramics so I have to assume it’s missing something expensive to only be 72k. I’ll tell myself that anyway so I don’t kick myself that I just ordered basically an identical car ha ha.

Don't tell me your going to pay £72K for a BMW "M", HELP.
£62K max.
