Hi all,

I'm potentially going to buy an M6 to sit alongside a 911 and replace my 3 series.

I want to buy with my eyes open so would appreciate no "if you have to ask then don't buy" comments.

What average mpg do people get? I'll be happy with low 20's but probably not high teens (which is what the 911 gives me).

Are there any common faults that I should look for?

Is the comp pack worth paying extra for?

Other than HUD which I want, are there any other "must haves" in the option spec?

What's service intervals like? Assume just regular BMW condition based servicing?

Anything else I should know?

Thanks in advance?

Some answers:

I got 18.6mpg on my F10 M5 over 34000 miles covering all sorts of driving conditions so I had at best 28mog and at worst 7mog. I see the M6 being no different.

I had no faults with my M5 over 34000 miles and haven't read any real scare stories.

I would buy the competition pack on an F10, Cant speak for the M6 but might be a similar story?

HUD is standard on M5 and M6

Running in at 1500 or thereabouts. Next small service at 16000 and then a further one at 25000 to include rear pads. At 34000 front and rear disks were showing signs of age and probably needed changing within 5000 miles at best. Next service was due at 36000 miles according to the iDrive. Tyres - fronts last 8-10k and rears 15-20k and I ran MPSS

I really liked the two door M6 and it would have been on my short list if not for 2 kids and a dog!

M6 is the dogs danglies.

Just get one, You know it makes sense.

Competition pack is a must.

Surround view is worth having.

Anything else that's thrown in is a bonus.

I was going to avoid the comp pack as assumed the ride would be too hard for day to day driving. I've got the 911 for the weekends.

Anyone know how the ride compares between comp and non-comp? What else does comp pack give (other than admittedly nicer wheels)?

You get more power (15bhp), 10mm lower ride height, stiffer suspension, anti roll upgrade and tweaked MDM mode to allow a bit more slide

I have a comp pack m6. I've sent you a DM btw.

I'm considering an m6 too! (Well for next year). Or an M4. Not sure which one to go for yet...

The prices seemed to be going down quite well.

I'm test driving the M4 and M6 back to back later today as I'm also considering both. Hoping the test drive will point me one way or the other haha.

I went to see an M6 GC today. I didn't get to test drive at as it had a transmission fault due to low fuel?!?

Not sure how true that is...

It's true, I'd believe it yes

My car (F10 M5) was having some minor bodywork done a couple of years ago and the garage had obviously had a bit of fun a and I had no fuel frown To clarify the work was being done by a friend and I wasn't pissed off, I knew he'd take it for a spin wink

It ran out of fuel before I got to the nearest stop and I had 'transmission fault' until such time it was running again.

It's true. This happened to me the day I bought the car. Caught short on my way home in the middle of nowhere!
