Hi all

I have recently test driven both cars and although the Alfa ultimately was the better car to drive when pushing on the BMW was far more practical for my expanding family.

If practicality wasn't near the top of my needs then the Alfa would probably be my choice. Alfa are not really for offering much discount but do offer 0% interest.

So BMW it is...

I have been to my local bowker dealership and
they said they could do a lot better deal on a unregistered high spec car they had in the showroom rather than a lower spec factory build.

I wanted to see what you think of the offer and whether I should expect better...

£5000.00 customer deposit
£779.50PCM
48 months
8000 miles a year
6.0% APR
£27,537.77 final optional payment

See attached breakdown of costs and spec.

It works out £8286.24 discount.

I got a slightly better deal on a new factory order car last year - approx £10k off list. The deal was based on taking BMW finance but I paid off the finance a few months after delivery. The finance is the killer and will erode all your perceived savings from list - your car will realistically cost you £40k in finance costs/depreciation over 4 years.

I don't think that's great at all.

No service pack.

No adaptive LEDs.

6% APR can be bettered.

Four years is a long time to be tied into a PCP with a rapidly depreciating asset that will almost certainly have to be traded at huge loss if you want out.

And your car would be pretty common on the roads too!!

I have come to your conclusion about the Alfa, it's the better car by a country mile.....dealers are discounting, you just need to walk in and show you mean business, right there, right then.

Total payable on your deal: £70k

I thought BMW were doing 2.9% APR? Or is that someone else?

Cheers for the responses guys.

The pcp is the main thing putting me off at the moment.

Wise man!

You can do a lot better.....and is 8000 miles a year enough?

Just a thought....you'd bag a very good deal by haggling hard towards the end of this business quarter in June!

That's only on certain cars in the range.

OP, if you shop around you can get a better deal on an M3 CP and if you're a Halifax Bank customer they offer car finance (PCP) at 4.6%.

Service pack is hardly the end of the world you save about £200, LED lights aren't a deal breaker either the adaptive xenons are perfectly good, in fact very good.

Full leather is a great option and really changes the interior much better than LED lights.

I wouldn't say you could ever describe an F80 M3 as a common car, they have sold about 2000 since its launch back in 2014, that's 2000 cars out of the 32 million on Britain's roads, yep common as muck.

As for depreciation it's nothing compared to the M5 that thing falls like a giant oak with rockets pushing it down.

At the moment 8-9k off a car isn't bad even the best deals were around 11k off and those are not readily available if at all.

5.9% is the lowest BMW FS will go on an M3/M4 at the moment and I tried hard.

You can get 5.9% on a used or pre-reg car too, so it makes sense to me to go for the loaded in dealership / stock car.

I backed out and went for a fully loaded 440i (with MPPSK, and all the M Performance stuff) instead due to the 20% discount and 2.9% APR (on non-M cars).

The discounts were pitiful on the M4 too and nothing like last years 15-18%

Happy hunting, but personally I would wait until Q3 to see if BMW offer any backing to the M's/

Try Sandal BMW in Huddersfield, ask for James Hammond.

They have (or had) some physical but un-reg'd cars available. I got over 17% off one but it had to be registered in March for that price.

Worth a try though...

I bought a used one 3 weeks ago, 7% APR put 12K down. Term 48 months. I've just paid another 10k off the finance and this has reduced the term down to 18 months. Obviously still have ballon at the end. If you can pay extra off the finance it makes a massive difference, saved myself £4,300 in interest.
I went for a used one as couldn't afford to pay for a fully loaded new one.

Options on mine as follows:
Full Sakhir leather ( dash top and door card tops black leather with Sakhir stitching )
Interior trim finishers black chrome
Park assist
Comfort access
Heated rear seats
M carbon ceramic brakes
Sun protection glass
Surround view
Driving assistant
Adaptive LED headlights
High beam assistant
Speed limit display
Dynamic safety
Online entertainment
M double clutch transmission
Heated steering wheel
Harmon Kardon loudspeaker system
Rear electric window blind
Extended storage
Lane change warning system
Active security package
437M alloys option black inserts
Front arm rest with sliding adjustment
Head up display
Reversing assist camera
Advanced parking package
Surround view cameras

Never seen any other M3 with more spec so jumped on it before it even went through the workshop. Only covered 9,300 miles. Over the moon with it.

Hi all

I have an update...

The dealer come back to me with a better offer on the same car as above.

They said they wanted to pre register the car to the dealer but will offer £11,530.00 off which brings it down to £699 per month.

What are people's thoughts?

I've just bought a new pre reg M4 competition pack.
Roughly £14k off list price plus finance at 6% over 4 years
Also all pre reg prior to April 17 attracts £290 road tax rather than £450

If you are going to keep the car far cheaper to take the HPI option rather than ballon payment.

£20k deposit and around £800 ish per month for 48months.

Interest is then just over £4K instead of aroumd £9k
