Considering an M2 - Advice Needed

I just ordered an LC1 for delivery in September.
Small discount.
One thing I learnt: Using my existing car as a trade in, they were more interested in how much tread was on the tyres than the spec. So unless you actually like the accessories you're ordering and plan to use them, you will never get that money back (unless you sell privately).
Hi, did you find it easy to get a build slot? Dealers I've spoken to so far can't offer a firm dateSmall discount.

The only thing that stopped an M2 purchase for me was the engine - it's just not up to M car standards in my opinion. Even the M240i runs it close in terms of outright pace.
I liked the engine. It's the interior that's the issue for me. It's fine for the much cheaper M240i, but not the M2.
The performance should be better too. The M240i is a match on the straights.

Yes - I only started talking to them on Friday after requesting a quote via BMWs website on a Thursday evening. They had 2 cars already ordered out of their allocation for the year. They changed the spec on one to match what I wanted.Driver101 said:

I used to have an E46 M3. The interior of the M2 is significantly better finished. It's the interior that's the issue for me. It's fine for the much cheaper M240i, but not the M2.

Obviously, with the size and weight of modern baby carriage systems, one needs at least 500bhp to be sure of being able to pull away from standstill on hills, and the boot needs at least twice the volume (and a powered lid - because one's arms are exhausted after lifting all that cr*p into the car). Yes?

They changed the spec on one to match what I wanted.... and that was another thing: franchised dealers for three different marques expressed concern over whether protection film or some form of sealant had been applied as they were going to have to take it off before sale.
So that's another thing which can be a plus in a private sale that appears to add little or nothing when trading in.
Which is depressing.
