New Bond film due in 2019, and apparently DC will be featuring once more. Didn't he previously say he wouldn't? I'm pleased either way - I'm excited already! biggrin

He actually said something along the lines of he'd rather slash his wrists than play James Bond again.

He further added that if he did it would only be for the money.

I'd prefer it if he'd turned it down. Never liked Craig as Bond.

he said that in the immediate aftermath of filming Spectre though, and the quote was more along the lines of "Right now, I feel like I'd rather slash my wrists than film another one" as opposed to exactly stating it.

Nothing has yet been announced regarding the cast or choice of Bond if they are getting a new one etc.

I think the rumoured $80m fee eased his grumpiness and the slashing of his wrists.

One of the things I don't like about Craig as Bond is that his grumpiness and dislike of the character is starting to show through in his performance.

You can view that both ways and it be a good thing too.

For me he's been the best Bond so hoping he stays.

I don't see how it could be a good thing.

Frankly I feel it's time for a change. The first couple of films with a new bond are always the good ones. They get steadily worse from there on. The last two, while visually stunning, were very poor in terms of how the story played out.

I'm also not sure how much life is left in the franchise. The character of Bond is very outdated in today's western society. I'm not sure I want him to move with the times, I'd rather he retired.

Yeah I could just about suffer another one.
Only watched spectre the other day for the first time and while a lot of it was good (up till before the helicopter fight at the start then some bits later on) some bits were laugh out loud dumb (Helicopter cockpit brawl and plane he magics up in the mountains)
I think they try to please as wide an audience as possible from adults to 4 year olds.
Cant shake the thought im watching norman wisdom when bond runs about in a suit though.

Its outrageous. The role should have been given to Idris Elba. By not casting a Black Bond the producers have insulted all black people everywhere. I think I can speak for many black actors (though I'm neither black or an actor) when I say enough is enough
By not casting a black actor they have insulted all the aspiring UK Born black actors. The ability to have worked the Bond back story into the films story would have been unique. Bond could quite rightly feel angry that his great grandparents Kunta Kinta Bond was sold in a market down in New Orleans to work cutting the sugar etc. Then shoved on a ship bound for New Orleans then his children pressed into domestic service in Kensington.
His anger could have been captured and it would have made for a damn good Bond movie perhaps the best yet. Beeter than the one where Roger Moore dressed up as a clown

But no. Lets play it safe lets have the white guy again

For me Daniel Craig has been a good bond let down by bad bond films.

I wasnt keen on him when announced but Casino Royale is up there with the best for me, Quantum of Solace had its own issues with the writers strike and blah blah blah but I actually quite liked it.

I just cant gel with this new Moody personal james bond we have had since skyfall. i Watched it in the cinema and couldnt make out what he was saying half the time. I know you shouldnt try pick holes in bond films otherwise Moonraker shouldnt exist but skyfall for me was just stupid. Then add in the the product placement, The "nostalgia" throwbacks and it just felt like a parody of itself at times.

Spectre has been the only bond film ive ever watched just once. I cant even remember what happens in the film but I have no desire to go back to find out.

Casting daniel craig at least puts back the whole who can be the most politically correct bond act person.

Of Craig's 4 Bond movies, 3 have been rubbish, and only 1 has been watchable (Skyfall).

He is only doing Bond no.5 in 2019 because his attempt at a post-Bond career has flopped.

Suspect his heart won't be in it, he's only doing it for the payday, and the movie will be a bit cr*p.

The new, moody Bond is to satisfy the huge (and faster-growing) Asian audiences. The production company has said comedy Bonds (like Roger Moore) do not play well in China, Indonesia, etc.

Exactly
So why not cast an Asian Bond ?
Why patronise these people by foisting whitey Bond upon them

Agreed, on the first part anyway - he's been my favourite Bond so far.

Time for him to go though, he's suffered some bad films, had some good ones - but the story is told, from brand new '00' to seasoned to broken old '00' to ride off into the sunset.

If this new one is him being dragged out of retirement for something or other, fair enough - but if it's like everything gets reset between films and we have to see a grumpy 52 year old Bond (or rather his stunt double) jumping on and off trains at speed one minute and chasing 23 year old Bond Girls the next its' going to a big rubbish (for me anyway).
