M6 GC LCI
San Marino Blue
Few small options added like soft close door, speed limit display, totalled to around 2.5k But being LCI it has few upgrades included like the full leather that was a 5k option before so its a nice place to be.
I have wanted one for years, when I got it I had that "what the hell have I done" moment but now that I have had time to learn the car over the last few weeks I have really grown to love it. Had its fair share of attention already but blends in when it needs to which is great.
The M6 is an option for me too. I am debating between it and a GTR. San Marino Blue

Why did you have a 'what have i done' moment?
I've had 3 people already say to me where the hell do you go after an M6 GC and i honestly have no idea unless you want to spend another 20-50k extra.

Having got rid of mine currently thinking of the future and what I might do. Another M6 GC or new 540i x drive. Thoughts on the 540i? For 35k it’s a 2014 M6 GC or a 2017 540i....
To be clear, I am not suggesting the 540i is an M car but with the x drive and the new tech, warranty etc it’s tempting me.

Did you sell yours privately? To be clear, I am not suggesting the 540i is an M car but with the x drive and the new tech, warranty etc it’s tempting me.
I think a few people have made that step and feel happy enough with it as a stop gap until the new M3 comes out or the current M5 drops enough.
Good thing about the 540i is you can add a power pack onto it via BMW so again it add more power and shaves more off the 0-62 time

Hi Phil, I just sold my 540i M Sport too Stephen James Enfield, it has the £3500 upgraded M Performance kit with Sports exhaust, only done 4K miles and drives way quicker than the 540i STD. I missed the "M" cars and bought the new F90 M5.To be clear, I am not suggesting the 540i is an M car but with the x drive and the new tech, warranty etc it’s tempting me.
I sold mine privately yes.
I guess the issue is that I worry if I went for a 540i, like you’ve mentioned above I would miss the M car. I know it sounds ridiculous but I guess a lot of people on here will understand what it means to just miss the M car, not that the 540 is a bad car, it’s just not an M!

Has anyone installed the exhaustmeister on their car.
I have got mine but admittedly struggling to install it.
Could anyone give some tips with images on how to.
I have tried to find something but don't seem to have much luck. exhaustmeister did have one for the f10 m5 which I was going to use as a rough guide but its gone from their website.
Thanks

I installed one on mine with no issues. Give me some details on the challenge you are having?
Main items are
- locate the vacuum connection on the left behind the left rear light
- ensure the earth cable is earthed to a metal bit of the chassis or it won’t work.
Happy to help. Let me know.

I've got one and it was very easy to install on my M5. I have got mine but admittedly struggling to install it.

I think it was more of a personal thing. I've never had an M car before and the quickest car i had before that was an a7 bitdi (320bhp) which is 0-62 in around 5.1 seconds but on a roll an m6 is near on twice as quick as that. This is Obv 600 and the leptons happen in the blink of an eye. Its nothing short of mental. Took some time to get used to all the settings establishing what i like and furthermore getting used to having that much power at my disposal. If you drive it like a diesel or a quattro traction is an issue.

How was the A7 bitdi? I've had 3 people already say to me where the hell do you go after an M6 GC and i honestly have no idea unless you want to spend another 20-50k extra.
I like the idea of having the fuel economy of the diesel and an engine that gives a bit of Welly.
Now that you've gone to the M6 GC would you consider the bitdi boring?
Took mine round Cadwell Park which is not exactly ideal for a big old boat like the M6GC!
Obviously it was not exactly nimble round there, but it was better than I expected. Pretty slow round the corners but caught up down the straights. No problem with brakes, but then I have the Carbon Ceramics.
There's a video here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RrdeHFMRtyI&t=... Unfortunatally in this session I got stuck behind a 335 touring that would not let me past and plonked his car right in the middle of the track which was rather anoying. About half way through I backed right off for a lap or so, but caught him up again within one lap.

The bitdi engine is immense, but the quattro is so effective that it never feels that edgy. You could plant the throttle in almost any situation and it would hook up. I had the optional sport differential and the thing was glued to the road. It felt that you could take corners at crazy speeds and the diff would throw the torque around so that it neatly tucked in.
I test drove an M6GC and the M5, eventually getting the saloon for practical reasons. On my test drive, performance didn't feel that different to the bitdi. Once I got used to the car, I realised that this was because I was driving it like a wafty diesel. Put your foot down and use the rev range and it is a very different story. The M5 is on another level altogether.
The biggest improvements over the audi are the 'proper' hydraulic steering, amazing front end grip and punchy DCT box. On top of that, you have double the power, through half the wheels, a proper mechanical LSD and suspension that keeps you level in the corners.
They add up to a car that has bags more character than anything else I have owned, including the bitdi. It was a lovely car, but, yes, I would have to say it is boring compared to an M5 or M6GC.

I am tempted to take mine on track for around 25 laps just to get a feel for the car and learn more about it.
I have standard brakes and have not done a track day before so I am not sure what to expect in terms of consumables use and anything else I need to do.

Totally agree it takes time coming from a high power Derv quattro to an M6 - I am still learning 3 months in and generally I am quite quick at finding a feel for a car and its limits. All part of the experience I guess

My 2016 M6GC is going back (pch) in December and i was thinking 540i xdrive m sport tourer for a while. Ticks all the family boxes and then some.......but..... my wish to get away from mind numbing autos / DCTs in my "driving" car has now put me in an M2 competition....manual, due for delivery in November. To be clear, I am not suggesting the 540i is an M car but with the x drive and the new tech, warranty etc it’s tempting me.
Compared to the 6 It'll be nice to have a car that weighs a lot less than 2 tons, i can see out of properly, fits in parking spaces and multistories, can handle a pothole, does more than 18mpg long term and has an engine that actually sounds nice
Don't get me wrong the 6GC is an awesome piece of engineering. Im really glad i had one and will remember it fondly (rose tints on) but now it's time for something completely different (as mr everett used to say)
