Tiesto Grigio paintwork.
Such a great colour. Quite industrial looking. That was one of the short run of "Ferrari " colours I think. Very unusual. Probably not too many M6 GCs in that colour.

Looks amazing. Nice write up
The problem with having such a good detailing done is that you probably don't want to drive it, particular this time of year with the constant road grime!!
I concur. However, I do few miles these days and most is on local roads avoiding motorways so grime isn't too bad. Joe convinced me to start using snow foam prior to washing and it does indeed take a lot of the surface dirt off before using my usual two bucket method. I'm sure the ceramic coating helps as well as water just beads off the paintwork now.The problem with having such a good detailing done is that you probably don't want to drive it, particular this time of year with the constant road grime!!
I've also invested in a BigBoi dryer to blow most of the surface water off which leaves me to drag a drying towel over the damp areas which remain.

It's a lovely colour. Looks very similar to 'Dravit' on my 8, although without the green/gold fleck.
I love how the Dravit changes shade depending upon the lighting. It really suits the 8 and has more presence than Tiesto Grigio which I think is a Lamborghini colour. I do think that the Tiesto Grigio on yours looks fabulous though, I'm not sure it'd be better in Dravit. I'm a bit of a sucker for flatter colours ironically - I really like the Audi 'Nardo Grey' for example.
I think I just like grey cars actually.

Did you get a good price for it? I was going to upgrade to it but GC and carbon brakes gave me the willies. Cracking looking machine though.
Yes got asking price. Dont let carbon brakes put you off. As long as you can get a PPI and a garage to check the discs are not chipped or cracked and the car hasnt been tracked, they tend to last 80k miles for pads! Got a few shots at Bicester Heritage Sunday Scramble this morning. Car covered in salt unfortunately so will get the bucket and sponge out again later.
Finally had some air/ tyre temperature to use some right foot today. It's been cold or wet on every trip since i bought the car, but had a very wide grin on fact this morning.

So after having it detailed and ceramic coated, a muntjac deer decided to dart out from a field on my left on the inside lane of a dual carriageway last Thursday evening.
Thankfully I was only doing about 45 having just come through a roundabout. Been to two bodywork shops both of which said they could repair the bumper but wouldn't recommend it. The under tray also needs replacing as it has a large hole and crack all the way down it where I ran over the deer. Aircon radiator and parking sensors all working fine.
Now awaiting their quotes and have asked them to price separately for respraying the bonnet as I'm considering whether to have the five minor stone chips on it repaired at the same time.

Sorry to hear that too, Muntjac are a real threat there are loads of them round here and not wishing them any harm of course but the damage can be huge.
I'm sure you use will insurance, that will be many thousands if BMW were to do it and independents won't be cheap if they're doing a good job.
What a pisser eh?

Sorry to hear/see that. I always worry about deer as no matter how good/observant a driver you are, they can still catch you out.
Will you claim on insurance for that?
I took it there this week and they have quoted £2150 which includes the new bumper, undertray, air duct assembly and central front bottom grill. Given the issue with my insurer plus the inevitable hike in premiums should I claim, I have decided to just pay for the work.

It is a pisser but I guess it could have been worse as no metal body work was damaged and the air-con and main radiator were undamaged. I also think the repair quote is reasonable so I'll put it down to experience. On the plus side, Joe who detailed and ceramic coated the car, has told me to pop back in circa ten days after it's been repaired and he'll recoat the new bumper. Hi,
I need my M6 front discs replacing as the previous owner just changed the pads and not bother with the discs.
The cars at 60 K miles.
Been quoted just short of £1300 at the dealers,
Thinking of using a BMW specialist,
Should I purchase genuine BMW parts or would anybody recommend another brand ?

Is that not quite normal for cars in general though? i.e. you get through a couple of sets of pads before discs need changed.I need my M6 front discs replacing as the previous owner just changed the pads and not bother with the discs.

At 60k miles, it's unlikely to still be on its original discs, so they may have been changed recently (last 10k miles perhaps?)
Whilst we're on the subject of brakes, is anyone else getting a lot of brake siezing after parking your car up? Especially this time of year with lots of salt on the roads.
I think as the car was on a bmw Service pack the previous owner just got the pads done and not the discs.
I just took it in for a full service to my local BMW stealers, and I was advised I need new front discs, but I don’t have faith in them as previously all the cars I have in to them, I was advised it needs replacement discs ….
I might get a 2nd opinion from a independent before I actually replace them.
My friends have also experienced the same selling tactics at the same dealer

They have a minimum thickness specified by BMW. If they say the disks need replacing ask them what the thickness is. If they are under spec slightly i'd get more wear out of the pads then replace pads and discs at same time. Unless there is a huge lip its unlikely the disks urgently need doing.. and even then... i'd eek out the pads.
